Song and effect: famous songs and the effects pedals used
« on: May 10, 2012, 02:31:39 PM »
Share naman kayo ng mga local or foreign songs and yung mga effects pedals na ginamit para makuha yung guitar sound dito..

ex.

sa mga Chillpeppers na kanta..anong effect ginamit sa "Under the bridge"  so on and so forth.

Dagdag pa kayo para mashare sa other forumites kung paano i-nail yung guitar sound ng mga popular songs.

Para din maging specific ang type of effect na planong bilhin...

some examples:

The Rolling Stones’ "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" greatly popularized the use of fuzz effects.

Phil Collins song "In the Air Tonight".
Noise gate effects

Bon Jovi’s “Living on a Prayer”, Stevie Wonder's “Black Man” and Peter Frampton's "Show Me the Way".
Talk boxes

A well-known usage of chorus is the lead guitar in “Come As You Are” by Nirvana.

flanger effects include "Walking on the Moon" by The Police and "Barracuda" by Heart.

phaser are keyboard parts on Billy Joel’s “Just the Way You Are” and Paul Simon's "Slip Slidin' Away"

A notable use of ring modulation is the guitar in the Black Sabbath song "Paranoid".

Rolling Stones' "Gimme Shelter" features a tremolo effect.

Rivermaya's 214 made me want a Flanger in HS

as for RHCP's Under the Bridge - i remember reading it was an MXR compressor set to be very squishy.

Boss DD3 for GNR's intro of Welcome to the Jungle

Live's Lightning Crashes - it was a one direction phaser... i am not sure what exact pedal, but you can get that effect on a Boss Ph3

Nirvana's Come As You Are = EHX small clone chorus

anybody knows Noel Gallaghers set up? or Paul weller? hehe

Quote
Musical equipment

Throughout his career Gallagher has used a wide range of different guitars, effect pedals and amplifers from his large collection. Most of it emerged from the Standing on the Shoulder of Giants sessions, where he decided to drop the equipment used in the three previous albums and instead buy "loads of really weird pedals, old guitars, and small amps", as the lack of deadline to deliver the album allowed Gallagher to "take quite a few days just messing around."[125]
[edit]Guitars
Electric guitars
Epiphone Supernova – Gallagher's signature model combines features from Gallagher's most frequently used guitars over the years, including various Gibson and Epiphone semi acoustics. The Union Jack paintjob echoes his custom-painted Epiphone Sheraton that he used at Maine Road in 1996.[citation needed]
Epiphone Riviera[citation needed]
Epiphone Sheraton[citation needed]
Fender Telecaster – Gallagher uses several, one of which, a 60s model, was given to Noel by Johnny Depp as a birthday present[125]
Epiphone Les Paul[125]
Gibson Les Paul[125]
Epiphone Casino[125]
[edit]Effect pedals
In the early days of Oasis, Gallagher did not use pedals: "I used to just turn up the amps as full as I could get them".[125] Since then, he has begun using a large number of effects, but singled out the Ibanez Tube Screamer.[125]
[edit]Amplification
Gallagher has said that he used only 100-watt Marshalls early in his career. After Definitely Maybe, he began using smaller amps, singling out Fenders (Princeton and Bandmaster), and also a combo made by Clark Amplification, which builds amplifiers based on vintage Fender and Marshall amps.[125]

The gears used to record the Passion and Warfare album were Ibanez JEM and Universe guitars, Charvel Greenie Meanie, Marshall JCM900 amplifiers, Carvin X-100B amplifier, Boss DS-1 pedals, ADA-MP-1 preamp and an Eventide H3000 harmonizer.  :-D
