Get some fast glass and use it as your walk-around lens to get you started.the camera came with an EFS18-55mm lens. Are they similar?

Enroll ka sa photography lessons pre sa FPPF, eto website nila http://photoworldmanila.com/unfortunately I have to be physically there right? I live in LA.
Mas maganda pa din kasi may nag e-explain kesa mag shoot ka lang ng mag shoot. Learn the basics like rule of 3rds, framing, basic shapes.......etc.......etc. Good luck.

...nice pics guys..... keep those tips coming.... thanks in advance. You'll never get enough sa Youtube bai. Or you can download ebooks from torrentz.
so with those type of lens you can get really nice round bokehs?Pasali nalang din sa bokeh shots! hahaha! This is just a 50mm f1.8 though pero stop down at 2.8 kasi di masyado sharp at wide open

I'm getting a 50mm this week so I can use it for parties this weekend.
In the meantime I have my kit lens with me 18-55mm .. so I took this shot .
...still very new at this....pasensya.

nice pic bro. the 18-55mm lens is really a very versatile lens. it is wide enough for landscape shots and has a good zoom range. just keep shooting. try places with different lighting conditions so you'll get to feel how iso, aperture and shutter speed works.thank you...got a tripod already. Haven't used it yet though.
and get a good sturdy tripod. :-D

Sir Phil, i must say your pics are wonderfully composed.. and ganda ng colors :)thank you so much....
i say get a flash rather than a lens :) suggestion lang...
JC
Sir Phil, i must say your pics are wonderfully composed.. and ganda ng colors :)I agree din. External flash is really handy when shooting low light condition bro. It is more powerful and is capable of a wider coverage than the built-in flash. You can also tilt and swivel the head which will allow you more lighting option.

Im no pro ah, but i think mas ma maximize mo yung versatility ng kit lens mo.. :)the flash I am eyeing is a bit steep $ 500 that is like a nice botik pedal already....hahahaha kidding aside.
and have you consider the scenario na kailangan mo switch back to your kit lens? medyo ka hassle din, well for me.. :)
but a 50mm lens is really nice din naman.. :)
JC

Right now, I am just buying stuff that I can afford like that lens and accessories.... as of now, I only do shoot outside during daytime a lot (when I do my daily walk)...when I get bored and tired of shooting at that location... and budget permits... I would get that flash.
...really appreciate all your input guys. This hobby is F U N.
ha ha ...just got me the nikon sb 900 and that was worth an ETHOS man. i know how you feel but check out strobist.com and see how people use their flash with a regular DSLR.thanks man...learning a lot from you.
It makes a lot of sense.
Its all about light and how to harness, add and manipulate it.
Newbie in strobie....here is my take on bounce flash.
Meaning the flash head was swiveled towards a wall and the light was bounced on the subject.

HAPPY SHOOTING!! :-D
wait I need 10 years to study all these stuff... hahahaha
wow... thanks.
nice shots Phil! It seems you're into landscape photography too. An UWA lens would be a nice addition to your lens line up.what does those hoods do ?
My weapon of choice for my landscape shots. :-D
what does those hoods do ?It prevents glare to your lens which are coming from the sides. It also acts as a protection on your front element or filter.
Sir phil, honest comment ah, the shot taken with ur 50mm looks soft in focus..honesty is the best policy... its okay. :-)
whats ur setting? :)
honesty is the best policy... its okay. :-)
I don't do manual focus because I am not that good yet. I usually have it a Aperture Priority Mode ....
settings...ISO 100, F/1.8, 1/3200 sec
the pic looks sharper here sa Flckr though
http://www.flickr.com/photos/kuyapepot1970/4264828113/
I did get a couple of shots that are sharper ...like this

You can still ask the camera/chipped lens to focus for you even when your in manual mode unless you are using a manual focus lens.what do you mean?
..... you can fire a burst of shots and hopefully one is in focus.hahahahah...like please lord....please naman po...give me a good shot.
hahahahah...like please lord....please naman po...give me a good shot.
... It's like guitar soloing ...when you start, you just pray and hope that all the notes in your head will translate exactly on the fretboard. hahahaha.
here's a one a shot this morning.

Tripod next Phil and dont skimp on the ballhead....and a 3 stop grad filter for your wide angle, filter system, and a circular polarizer for your 50mm and that UWA.tripod is coming already ... I got a Slik Pro 700DX....didn't get the Manfrotto... we will see how this Slik performs...if it sucks...then I can return it and add some money and get a Manfrotto. The grad filter can wait...will see whats gonna happen if I do need it. I only bought UV protectors on all of my lens...Teffens and a couple of Zeikos.
