i remember in the mid 90's na when I went to Perfect Pitch, I was always dogged by the sales people about not touching the guitars. Um - it defeats the purpose of shopping for an instrument if you ask me when you can't listen to what the thing sounds like. Needless to say, I never bought anything from them. B@stards....

I had the same experience like 2 years ago when i was looking for ax1500g. It happened in yamaha galleria. Instead of entertaining me, the sales clerk said they have the unit but dont have an adaptor for ax1500g for testing. But they do have one for sale. Get it? That time ax1500g was still sort of new and reviews in the internet are limited. How can you buy something you havent heard or tested. I know a friend who worked with the company and said that they have the right to open packages for prospective buyers. To cut the story short, I end up ordering ax1500g from a friend who came from japan(byahe). Half the price pa.

hmm so far ok naman ang experiences ko sa music store sa pinas so far... di naman kasi ako pumapasok don unless me balak talaga ako bilhin...but this was around 1998 pa ata hehe.

i immediately tell the sales clerk that i am looking for an amp, guitar etc and i have this much budget XXXXX ... ayun, ang bilis ng service hehe. lahat ng guitar/gears na within my budget, ilalabas nila complete with "reviews"... then in the end kung wala ako nagustuhan, i just say, thanks and walk away. pero usually, me binibili ako whenever i enter a music store.

This is the same strategy i use whenever i go to music stores anywhere...err well except Tom Lee HK na dati tuwing hapon, lagi ako nagtetest ng guitars at piano, pampalipas oras,di naman ako pinapaalis kahit wala akong binibili. hehe.

I've had a real bad experience sa Perfect pitch megamall and park square. i was planning on buying an amp and i went to these stores, unfortunately mejo hindi maganda yung attire ko parang pambahay nga lang eh. tapos nung pumasok ako dun sa mga stores nato eh tiningnan pako mula ulo hanggang paa. para bang as if to say na tinitingnan nila kung may pera bako na pambili.  i don't know much about amps coz it was my first time to buy so mejo makulit ako in asking what was the best amp to buy aba, nung may pumasok na na ibang customer na mejo mukhang mayaman eh iniwan nako at yung 1 customer na ang inentertain!!! may that sucks!!! so, nainis nako sa jb park square ako nakabili ng amp and nung nakabili nako ng amp dumaan ako ng perfect pitch park square and nagstop ako dun sa labas nila as if to say na "sana jan ako bibili sa inyo, kaso di  nyo ako inentertain." hehehehe yun lang.

Let me put it another way: From the perspective of a tindero

Naku... kailangan pa magREQUISITION ng new set of strings sa head office.

nice one :P

i know mahirap ang buhay sa pinas, and every job counts. sometimes you can't fault these people. hirap ng buhay, if making other people's lives harder helps them feel better.. fair enough.

i think totoo yun, pag may nasira or na-damage during their watch.. tanggal sa sweldo nila yun.

IMHO, the concept of total customer satisfaction has yet to reach the phils. case: i bought a cake from RR for my grandma's birthday. it was a giant 3-tier cake. i looked at a beautiful catalogue, picked one out, looked at the details (ingredients, size etc) paid the cashier, said i'll pick it up after a few days blah blah. picked it up after a few days.. looks just like the catalogue, great! i'm a happy customer. everyone at the store was polite. what a positive experience. my lola and her guests will love the cake! it's huge!  :o

anyway, night time na, party was on. time to cut the cake.. imagine to our surprise, the bottom two layers were styrofoam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so came back to the store first thing in the morning, demanding to see the manager etc, asking for a friggin refund. all they said was "sorry" wala kami magagawa, we only get given the catalogue (the friggin catalogue didnt say the first 2 tiers were styro!). the cake gets delivered here etc etc. blah blah.

that would require a massive store.. if you have a stock of every single item that can be used purely for testing. and besides, not all guitars or amps are the same. even if they look exactly the same, they won't sound the same. so won't really work :? you gotta test a few to make a good decision.

imagine the amount of stock you need for that!
