Cloning hard drive...
« on: September 12, 2006, 01:13:15 AM »
I need to clone my hard drive, OS and all, to be moved to a new PC. I tried Ghost 2003 and 10. I was able to clone the conetent to another hard drive but won't start in the new PC. What else can I try with this software? What other software should I check out? Thanks!

anong os mo sir? kung winxp, hindi sya gagana pag iba na ang hardware, pag nagchange kasi ng hardware, lalo na motherboard, magca-crash ang winxp agad sa umpisa pa lang.

true. your best bet would be to install the hard drive in a pc with the same configuration as the one you cloned the drive from (at least pareho yung motherboard). then try starting the cloned drive in safe mode and uninstall the drivers for whichever hardware that isn't on the new pc.

I guess clean install from scratch nanaman ako. Waaa!!!!

Pre there's still a way, you need to prepare your system for a hardware reset on the new PC. Bagay siya with HD imaging software.

Why dont you try booting in VGA mode or safemode? pag nakapasok ka dun install mo na lang manually yung mga drivers...it worked when I installed a new Vid and soundcard.

pwede ang vga/safe mode kapag ang hardware na pinalitan ay video card, sound card, memory, harddrive, modem at network card. pero kapag motherboard at processor ang pinalitan mo, it will surely crash. kasi ang importante sa windows motherboard id at processor id.

try nyo to mga chong ok to, medyo related narin

"I had seen a post a lil while back with someone that was wanting to move there HDD with XP installed from one PC to there new Rig. As Windows XP will not boot if you make a drastic hardware change you have to use the following method to move the HDD to its new home. I knew how to do this but I wanted to make absolutly sure so I contacted a good friend of mine who is the owner of a rather big Computer Repair Shop who confirmed this method to be a good way to make a HDD move with WinXp installed. I am posting this as advice to anyone needing to make such a move. This is simply one method of doing this and may not even be the best but it works and does not seem to have any adverse affects on the
performance of the Operating System.

To perform this method you WILL have to edit your registry if you do not feel comfortable in the Registry of your PC stop here.

This is a simple regedit to perform simply open regedit by clicking on Start > Run > type REGEDIT click ok
In regedit find this key :

HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG > SYSTEM > CURRENTCONTROLSET > ENUM

You simply Delete the entire ENUM key close regedit and shutdown your PC right there and move it to you new Rig. Boot the system. When Windows begins to load it will start detecting your new hardware and build your new hardware profiles ( this may take more than one restart of the OS) I have provided a small screen shot of what key to delete for referance.

I hope this helps some of you."

Gawin mo... kumuha ka ng isang PC... tapos yung old HDD mo gawin mong slave dun sa PC na working... tapos yung new HDD mo gawin mo ring slave... tapos open mo yung PC. Then pag-open na yung XP OS sa PC, kita mo na silang dalawa na slave... yunng laman ng dating drive mo ay copy mo lang sa bagong HDD then after copying..... thats it!! ilagay mo yung bago mong HDD then gawin mong master at magbo-boot yun... then palitan mo na lang ng mga bagong driver ayon sa settings ng bago mong PC at config...  whew...!!! pinag-pawisan ako dun ah.... pa-coke ka naman....  8-)
