what kind of strings do you use and why?

for electric, i use darco 11's.
they're cheap, sound good and last really long.
i only had 1 string breakage the last 2 years and it happened coz i attempted a 2 and a half step bend on a really old set hahaha 
d'addarios are great too but i find they break easily for me. they sound brighter than the darcos. (hindi kaya darco kasi dark tone? hehe)
if money was not an issue, i'd use gibson vintage reissue strings all the time. sarap ng tunog nun!

for acoustic, i use darco 12's for the same reasons i use the darco electric strings.
i'm currently experimenting on sit 12's but i'll be goin back to darco soon.
the darcos are louder and sound more open compared to the sit's.

patay ang fret life mo jan sa alice..

i think i mentioned this in a recent Alice Strings thread, they do eat fret wires fast.
if you've used your alice strings for quite a while now, try running your fingers under the strings where they hit the frets, you'd feel where they gnawed .

but they do last, i will give them that, but i stopped using them in fear of having to refret my guitar sooner as a trade off for skimping.

I've tried Darco. ok naman.

I use 10's. But on my practice guitar i use 11's or 12's. i practice bends with it para madali na lang when i go back to 10's. Kaso pag speed picking parang mas madali ang heavier guages. So when i practice  alt picking, i do so on 10's hehehe. 

I've noticed that the heavier guage, the more focused the sound gets. unlike if you use smaller guages, the overtones and harmonics aren't as drowned. That's why i'm considering going back to 9's for a while. although i'll surely miss the pick attack of bigger strings.

 I'm curious with this new brand i'm seeing at casa musica here in alabang. Jimi Hendrix strings. Made in Germany. Parang iba yung itsura ng wound strings. Mas pino. A bit more expensive though. I don't break strings often so i guess it won't be much of a problem.

For my strat, D'Addario EXL125 Super Light Top/Regular Bottom Strings (09-11-16-26-36-46).

For my Paul, forgot the exact model pero D'Addario na Regular Top/Heavy Bottom. Forgot the gauge sizes. I think it's 10-13-17-28-38-48. For detuned setups.

ako puro used strings gamit ko simula sa dean markley na signature series gauge .08 tpos my EB hybrid  gauge(.09-.46),ghs singles(.13, .17) my daddario ako na xl130 (.8-.38),super slinky ng EB(gauge .9) at ung reinforced version ng super slinky. i try a lot of setup i base my setup fom yngwie(8,11,15,22,32,46),zakk wylde(10,13,17,26,36,46 or 10,13,17,36,52,60),and john 5(9,11,16,24,32,42). happy intonation hehehehehehe

Snarling dogs 49's wounded ghs 10's plain sa ngayon. Try ko pa mas makapal na wounded strings, .52 siguro, tapos yung 3rd .19. Pinapatagal nga pala sila ng fast fret last time yung ghs nickel rockers ko tumagal ng 2 1/2 months yung wounded (at nagtagal pa kung di ko pinalitan)

Wala po bang masamang epekto sa Gitara kung itataas mo ung gauge na gamit mo.

For example, I have an SX Acoustic Guitar na nung binili ko naka 9 or 10 ata
tapos napangitan ako kaya try ko mag 12. Nasiyahan naman ako. Masarap sa kamay at full yung tone.

Bad effect is even i set the action to super low medyo mataas pa rin para sa akin (sabi ng iba tama lang daw). Feeling ko parang nahahatak nung strings yung neck.

Hindi ba ganun yun?

Peo panalo pa rin ang 12s. Gustong-gusto ko yung kapal nung tunog nya. Either fitted sa Electric or Acoustic.

yun din ang gamit koh para dun sa v koh kc yun yun nakakabit nun binili koh e.. though mukang mag te 10 akoh.. either yun ernie ball na hybrid (10 sa EAD at 9 sa gbe) or d'addario na size 10.. at sana wag naman magbuzz

tanong lang poh.. bakit kaya yun mga guitar na ka-scale ng gibson are most commonly factory equipped with gauge 10 na strings? whereas yun ka-scale naman ng fender ay commonly equipped with gauge 9?
