i've owned 5 over the years. yung 3 gibsons dont neck dive. the 2 epis did. pero its not because of the wood used. the epiphones (a 3 pickup custom and a standard g400) had neck joints that forced the front strap button a little further down towards the butt end so pag naka strap they felt slightly neck heavy. but really, when you're playing, your right forearm would keep the neck from diving anyway.

yung gibsons had the front strap button a little forward so they didnt neck dive. they didnt feel body heavy either like a guitar. parang perfectly balanced so that it wont do a butt dive (like other electrics) or neck dive (like an epi sg).

anyway, its nothing a thicker strap or a one with suede lining on the inside will easily fix.

Tried an sgj kanina, parang stratish na yun tunog, may chime compared sa standard pero less bottom end. Mas mataba ng konti yun neck parang 50s. Nakakagas
looking for badass guitars and amps.....

nasubukan mo with the goldea classic 20? ganda nung combination na yun. for blues, i think its better than the classic 20 and a tele combo.
ako 11k plus aged nickel covers.
Saturday morning? Kaya lang di na stock 490R/498T yung pickups ko.

Gusto ko din subukan ulit yung at-30 e.

Hindi eh. I wasn't able to test it with the Classic 20. Naka plug ako sa Goldea half stack at Blackstar HT40. Ayun pala ang nalimutan ko that time! Sabi ko na may nalimutan ako e. 5E3.  :-(

Sold out na pala bro ying at30 for now, sa April na ulit, sayang nga di ko na forecast. Sana next kuha ko, may ipapalabas ka na 5E3 hehe.
May 498T 490R ako, kabit natin - baked maple shoot out! Text kita. Ayus!

@Cayle - gusto ko naman isaksak yun sa tone room para maka tikim ng ibang flavor ng tone!

@Pete - mukhang napapadalas ka sa sg thread a... Interesado! Bibili na yan o!

Had the time to take a better picture of my SG. It's a 1996 Gibson SG Special. I've always been a strat and a tele player but I also owned a nice LP before. What I love about the SG is that it is not muddy compared to a Les Paul. Notes are very clear and articulate, and this translates very well on a clean or a dist/od setting. It's very versatile and it gives me tons of tone options. This particular one has a Gibson Classic '57 on the bridge and a Seymour Duncan 59 on the neck. It's also fitted with CTS push pull pots for both positions and RS Guitarworks capacitors. Hopefully I get the chance to own another SG in the future, particularly one in a heritage cherry finish. Cheers! :-D

Thanks man! Unfortunately I got it this way so I can't comment on the difference.  Awesome DT signature btw! One of the few signature guitars I would love to own one day.   :-D

Not sure about the 62ri. it's almost the same specs with the 61ri  both have 57pups. the DT 's neck is slim true D profile, slightly different from the 61ri's that i've tried. the pots are 500k Linear Volume, 500k Non-linear Tone, i'm not sure with 61ri's pots but most sg now have 300k Linear Volume, 500k Non-linear Tone.

Sorry, what I meant pala was the 61ri , anyways, meron bang noticable difference between the 61ri and the DT sig in terms of the sound? I've recently got myself a 61ri in the hopes of getting those DT tones  :-P(asa pa ako)

Below is my beloved SG Std 2010, the most shoulder friendly and the most comfortable neck amongst guitar I've owned.

I intend to replace the bridge pick up (498T) with an SD JB but I'm a bit hesitant, not knowing about its outcome.
Does anybody here has an experience regarding this? Please share your helpful thoughts.

the 498 actually sounds close to the JB in an SG i think. you might get a bigger improvement swapping the neck pickup for something with a bit more bite like a 59 or pearly so you dont go from mellow and bassy neck pickup tone to a spikey bridge tone. have you considered a custom 5 sa bridge? that sounds great in the bridge on an sg i think.

'Appreciate your comment. That saved me time and my ready to be installed Jb and push pull pot.
If there's no difference at all I'd rather stick with the stock pick ups at the moment.
Wanting to try a pair of  lower output Lollar El Rayo.

i prefer low output bucker too. i have a set of antiquities in one and unpotted 59s in the other.

there is a slight difference. the JB's mid spike is EQ'ed a bit brighter i think. i just find the 490r too boomy. it makes it tough to eq an amp to make it sound good for both positions.

Gibson SG + cranked Marshall Class 5 = classic rock tone heaven (early plexi sounds)

I'm loving this combo so far.
