Maybe it's the looks why people don't usually like SGs.  I used to hate them, my wife says mukha syang palakol.  I would say it could be an acquired taste.  My turning point was too much exposure to Epi SGs, and after some time trying them, i've come to love the "nimbleness" and the versatility of SGs (Especially with coil-split on G400 PROs).  Then after I tried a Gibson SG at Crescendo, I was hooked.  I GASed for an SG for months, then finally got the perfect one for me.

ganda niyan, sir Mark!  ako, I've always loved SGs especially the heritage cherry finish. they look pretty bad-ass to me and they feel pretty comfy despite the complaints of it being neck-heavy.

I like how an SG looks...  :-)

But it's so uncomfortable to me when being played while sitting down. The curved part of the body which will rest on my my lap is so far down the body that the neck seems so far.

Naexperience mo rin ba yun bro? Parang ang layo ng first frets pag naka-upo, as opposed to when I'm playing an LP or strat while sitting down.

Gandy - ikaw bat ka late din? Haha. Saka bat ka nasa sg club, gusto mo din ng SG no! Haha dami mo na gas these days!

The Nathan bro -  yep ganda din yun, was choosing between the two actually, mas nagustuhan ko lang yung tone ng gold na nasa shop.  Pero either way, ganda parehas.

Chino - actually di ko naman sya napansin. I enjoy it sitting and standing just like other guitars. Pero i know what you're saying, if mapansin mo si Derek trucks plays sideways probably because of the orientation of the sg. Pero it doesn't bother like a les Paul heel. If I didn't have the axcess, I'll be happy just using the SG.

Sino maysabing mismo daw? Wag kayo maniwala don.

True! I don't know if it's just the lighting pero parang mas dark yung pelham blue ng Epiphone?

Epiphone G400 Deluxe Maestro. Discontinued na ata. This would be the closest I could get to the Tweedy SG for a fraction of the cost.

Di ko din sya kilala before.. Ginoogle ko lang din hehe. But i did try out his sig sg. Liked the smooth neck and the low output burstbuckers. But i guess the vibrola is not for me though.. Diko lang siguro alam gamitin haha. heard some great feedbacks sa g400 w/ vibrola from some of the foumers in everythingsg. Sulit na sulit for the price.

Hmmm....  I didn't like the 490R in my previous LP standard, but Ilove it on my SG. the
498T 490R sounds perfect for me in my sg than it was on my lp standard. In general for me mas buhay ang sound ng sg vs lp. Maybe because I'm a strat lover.

@mandoytz - haha, maybe that's what this forum is for -  for folks like us to be exposed to more artists and gear. Then it means more GAS haha

@cayle - just checked now, ubos na! Haha. Been looking to get that for some time. If ever i get one I'll let u try for sure. About sa tele mo, si chino may sabi nun, hehe. Takot nga ako e, baka di ako makasabay, hihi

Pero bakit kaya ung mga sikat eh Pag gibson LP gamit. Hehehe. Minsan iniisip ko dahil kasi maganda ung les paul nakaka pogi. Hehehe

Ot. LP ba usually gamit ni jimmy page sastudio? Wala lang. Parang ang nipis kasi ng tunug nya. O baka dahil naka coil split siya?

AFAIK in the early Zep tunes he used a telecaster.

it might be kasi yung basic SG sound puts it squarely in PRS territory. the middle ground between strat/tele single coil but and les paul humbucker beef. e in that tonal territory, a PRS is usually thought of as more "high end" and desirable, which it is, i think. plus, it has a reputation of being flawed by design.

kahit sa budget guitars, if you let players choose between a G400 and a twin bucker, all mahogany PRS SE,  mas madaming pipili nung SE. you'll read everywhere that the PRS, SE or not, will stay in tune better than the gibson or epi, too.

the SG image has attitude by the bucketload though.

not bashing the SG. i have 2 standards myself but no PRS. mas importante sakin itsura e.

anyone want to swap a PRS standard 22 for an SG?
