Meron na ba sa inyo nag pamodify ng stock Epiphone pickups? Sino ma recommend nyo na luthier? Sayang kasi stock pickup, baka pwede pa ma improve. Medyo muddy and mahina kasi tunog nung stock pickup.

I wanna buy SG 1966 g-400 pro sa guitar pusher. I love tulip type tuners. Magkakaroon kaya ng SG 1966 g400 pro na may binding sa neck haha!

Let's up this thread!

BTW. I'm thinking of letting a luthier install bindings on the neck of my 1996 Gibson SG Special to make it look like the SG Specials of the 60s and 70s. Yay or nay?

i've always wanted a SG because of the tone and the vibe.. what's been putting me off is the neck... my left hand hurts after a few minutes of playing guitars with thin necks..

question, has anyone experienced playing a SG with a FAT neck? if yes, what brand/year so i can narrow down my search..

thanks in advance and Godbless,

-Jon

All the epiphone and gibson SGs I've tried have fat necks. Not baseball bat fat but fatter than Les Paul 60s neck. What SG models have you tried? Maybe getting an Epi or Gibson SG will suit you. Or maybe you find their necks thin?

thanks for the suggestions.. i've yet to try a Epi.

i've tried a 90's Gibson, 90's Orville, 70's-80's Burny (can't remember what year), current production tokai SG, and even RJ SG, still a bit thinner than what i need.

i know SG's are not really known to have fat necks but i'm looking for one off's or maybe someone who's been able to try/have a Edwards and or other brands that might have fatter-than-usual necks.. something like 52' Tele/58' LP 'ish neck profiles..

GAS!

Ah, we have different come-from states sir.  I came from strat/Ibanez necks so I find the SG neck fat.  Thin for me is Ibanez wizard neck, even some Les Paul 60s, haha.  You must be looking for 50s baseball bat necks.  I'll let the seasoned SG users chime in :-)

Edit:  The Tony Iommi signature has a fat neck pala, I just remember.  But maybe it's not the SG-vibe you're looking for.

Sir Mark,

Alin ang mas heavy ang body? Tony Iommi Epi SG or a regular G-400 Epi SG?mMas gusto ko kasi heavy yung body, baka nasanay lang ako sa Les Paul.

I never tried different SGs, but all i can say, my 2013 gibson sg is better than previous model like 2012 standards, mine has wide neck but slim, almost the 61 reissue, very comfort to play, easy access to high notes, good for stinging leads, and chunky rhythm, it has a less neck dive.

For the SG fans out there who wants a fat neck, let a guitar builder build one for you, atlis ma poprovide niyo pa lahat ng gusto niyong specs

Markcasq: thanks for the inputs.. Tony Iommi sig series? hmmm... i think that'll be worth checking out. and if it's true, it'll be a good starting point! heheheh.. also, i love the old black sabbath so if it has crosses for fretboard markers, it's a plus! hahahaha...

and yeah, i guess comming from different guitar types would definitely play a huge role in one's neck profile orientation... i've always like shred guitars even since i was in highschool listening to megadeth, pantera, metallica, etc.. but... 1. i can't shred for the life of me and 2. my left hand carpal tunnel won't let me play these fast necks, so all i can do really is bend strings on fat necks :-) hehehehe...

can't wait to be able to find one i can test.. hope if there'd be a SG toneparty we can join in, someone brings a Tony Iommi! i'll bring.. beer! hehehehehe....

Haha, let's go, I have Epi Tony Iommi, G-400, 1966 G-400, G-400 Korina, Prophecy EX, and Gibson Standard gold.  Bring 1 case of beer, hahaha.  PM me sir, schedule natin.  Tony Iommi has cross fretboard markers, like this:

I didn't notice a significant difference between tony iommi and regular G-400.  I find them both lighter vs. les paul.  Weight could be different by guitar because each is unique, so it will be a matter of what specific guitar you choose.

Astig yung Kastigo sa video. Napanood ko cla dati, gamit yung dimebag guitar.

I suspect na kaya mabigat yung Gibson is because premium mahogany yung ginamit na wood.
