guys i need help with my fender strat...

guys i have this fender stratocaster and i i rili want to know it's history.. well i already browsed the net given the serial number and i found out that this strat is made around 1963 to 1965.. the problem is i dont know where is it made.. for those who are expert in analyzing strats, i need ur help... the serial number is 100280... thanx guys..

wala ka bang pics diyan? 100280? hmmm, dunno kung may ganyang serial ah. usually serials start with a letter then 6-7 digits. if ever man it was made in 1963-65 malamang US made yan, kasi wala pang gumagawa ng strat copies during that era. i'm intrigued, show us pics bro, tapos analyze natin, hehe.

100000 to 110000 = late 1965

Late 1965 Stratocaster specs:

Peghead design enlarged significantly about 12/65 (known as the "large peghead" Strat).
Maple fingerboard optional (2 piece neck, no "skunk stripe").
Peghead Fender decal has 5 patent numbers (2,573,254 & 2,960,900 & 2,741,146 & 3,143,028 & 2,817,261).
Often the "film" of the peghead "Fender Stratocaster" decal is much larger. This large film decal only lasted a month or two, around 12/65.
After serial number L99999, the serial number plate now has a large script "F" (known as a "F plate"). The serial number starts at 100000 but with no preceeding "L".

woah.. so astig pla tong guitar ko... antique na. hehe well here's the story of how i got this guitar.. my dad gave it to me when i was 10 yrs old.. that was 12 years ago.. during that time, the condition of the guitar was still great until the years passed by and the pots started to get scratchy and all.. its my first guitar and i dont have an idea of how to maintain it during that time.. in short medyo npabayaan..

nga pala, my dad bought this guitar in an antique shop sa makati.. the owner of the antique shop sold it to my dad for he is migrating to the states.. sya ung mismong me ari nung guitar..

so now, im planning to restore it.. i noticed that this guitar is much heavier than other strats.. as in hirap tlga ako sa bigat nya.. sad to say di na orig ung tuning pegs kasi bumigay na dati and i needed replacement pegs.. pero other than that, lahat orig.. medyo yellow na nga ung pickguard at pups eh.. well i will definitely post pictures of this guitar asap so that u could help me guys..

ohhh man, sorry to burst your bubble but i don't think you have an authentic fender strat. it would've been great sana if you did.

first of all, fenders don't have 2 round string trees on one headstock. they only used one, and they only used it during the early 50's era. the tuners they used also on vintage strats are kluson tuners, yung round yung knobs and may butas yung tuning posts.

next, 1963-65 fenders used the pre-CBS logo, and it's not all black. or kung 1965 yan, they'd use the transition logo. i don't think meron na silang black fender logos during that time, i think they introduced them when the squiers and squier series fenders came out.

next, the two point trems were only introduced with the american standard strats and was later used on squier standard strats. so recent lang yan, in the 50's-60's era strats they used 6 screw trems and vintage "bent steel" saddles. that was the classic vintage trem design.

also, walang fender strat during that time that had the jack output at the bottom of the guitar. all had the football shaped jackplate. plus the serial number placement on vintage strats would be on the upper edge of the neckplate, not the center.

now, kung maganda tunog nung guitar na yan eh nako, walang issue kung orig or fake. actually it's not in the brand anyway, but in the tone, hehe. hope this is helpful bro! peace!

i think your right bro.. nag research din ako yesterday.. wla nga model na ganto.. i've already checked almost all the strats that was released periodically but i couldnt find any na katulad neto hehe.. lhat kasi ng strats na orig nasa tabi ng bridge ung plug tpos ung sakin nasa pinaka side nung guitar hehe...well for me iba pa rin ang tunog neto and the fact that this is my first guitar is already enough for me to keep it.. 2loy ako sa pagrestore neto.. thanx guys for giving me the whole idea.. hehe peace!=)

that's good bro! keep it for sentimental reasons, and customize the hell out of it! hehe. pa-check mo din yung body wood nya, kasi baka maganda naman yung wood. if it's good then a good set of pickups will sound awesome on that. basta ikaw na bahala mag-customize sa guitar mo, basta all i can say, it's painful sa wallet, pero masaya ka naman, hahaha! welcome to the world of GAS, haha!
