Title: trip hop
Post by: aelin on August 23, 2002, 06:27:41 AM
if anybody out there knows of this type of music... can you please tell me what you think of it and if you can recommend any good artists.  i think trip hop with its sublime down tempo and chill out grooves  make it a truly pleasurable class of music to listen to.  i just wanted to hear of anyone who might have some thoughts on this music.

Hey! :) Um, i know this is kinda late as i've just come across this post, but what the hell?! Yeah, triphop's awfully cool... been diggin' it too for years now. Good artists? You might wanna check out bands like morcheeba, portishead, hooverphonic, air, supreme beings of leisure, blackboxrecorder, among many others. 'Just ain't sure if they're all triphop, but am pretty sure they're all in the same vibe. Peace out!! ;)

Okey din yung Sneaker Pimps,  yung album na may "Low Place Like Home (yata.)" at, siyempre "Six Underground".  Panalo yung buong album.  Okey din yung DVD ng mga videos nila.  Lamb, check out niyo din kung hilig n'yo yung mga tipong ganito.

My project plays dark triphop, in case you're interested in more obscure sounding electro music. We cover the usual staple triphop bands, Portishead, Hooverphonic, Massive Attack and the likes. :)

zero 7 swakto! pero mas trip ko yung trip hop flavor ng mga old albums ni bjork. shempre we can't forget tricky, he started the genre, part pa ang members ng portishead nun sa collective nya. sneaker pimps are good, pero i only like the albums kung saan yung girl with vampire teeth pa yung singer nila. lamb is a bit more aggressive. pero ang all time fave ko ay mandalay. trip hop ba yun? sho nuff! basta good music!

Beginning with Walking Wounded, Everything But The Girl reimagined themselves as a trip hop group.

I'd also recommend Wax Tailor, Tricky, DJ Shadow's Endtroducing album, and Esthero.

You'll also want to try looking for stuff from the Ninja Tune label for what's mostly trip hop breaks.

I've read in an electronic music article that the trip hop we know today was actually chemical beats/big beat type back then. Later on nalang naging trip hop which sounded more like what we know of it today

Walking Wounded continues to be one of my favorite albums to listen to.

Try mo rin yung Zero 7.  Their album called Simple Things from 2001 had songs featured on Zach Braff's movie Garden State.
