very nice explanations and i agree with everything you posted. too bad mukhang di ka sineseryoso ng sinasagot mo.

Oo nga eh. Pero I still post kasi I know mas marami ang makakaintindi. :) Sa area na to di ka kayang isalba ng sariling opinyon sa pagkakakulong o pagbabayad ng malalaking penalties pag naka-violate ka ng batas.

Law is almost robotic; by itself it can't be biased. Pag nahuli ka at magpapaliwanag ka using your own opinion, sagot sayo "Sa presinto ka magpaliwanag..."

How do you guys feel about professional, commercial studios who use pirated software?

If you knew such a studio uses pirated software, would you give them your business?

unang una iisipin ko, nakapag tayo ka nga ng studio, nakabili ng mamahaling recording equipment and musical instruments pagkatapos gagamit ka ng pirated software? may mali yata sa business plan ng may ari. hehehe.

The hard fact is that very many practice this and yet make no effort to go legit as soon as they start earning from the software. The common excuse is 'ang mahal, galing pang states' or 'madaming mabibili dyan sa greenhills' and yet make no qualms about purchasing that 55k brand new guitar amp or whatever feeds their gear lust. Talk about distorted moralities. It's like having a gun and proclaiming that I can shoot anything I please.

The software in my sig, for ex., are all legit. I saved through the nose for my first copy of Sonar 4 and been upgrading rather inexpensively since then. The benefits of having registered software can be quite extensive, plus it ups your value.
Sonar 4.04PE/5.2PE/7.02PE/8.31 PE, Project 5 v2.5.1, EmulatorX 1.5, Cubase SL2, Ableton Live 7.14,  Intel Q6600 MSI P43 Neo 4Gb Crucial Ballistix Tracer DDR2-800, Emu 1820m, Yamaha DSP Factory, Terratec DMX 6fire

true!!!

On my end, I even bought Logic just so it's there when the client looks for one even if it's not my main DAW. Kailangan talaga to go legit once you earn from it and after you try.

just want to share my experience.

i'm working as a senior software dev and part time network admin dito sa company namin. about two weeks ago we got contacted (they obtained our phone and email info from the ISP) by the legal department of a local music company/distributor. na-inform kami na meron daw nag-dodownload ng copyrighted material (DVD) using our IP address and advised us to stop the illegal download or they will file a copyright infringement case against the company. they have given us the complete details of the download including

- the file being downloaded
- the workstation name
- public ip address

ni-reboot namin yung router para matigil yung download and enforced tighter firewall rule. napinpoint din namin yung workstation (at yung user) na source nung download. this has been a lesson for me personally, now that laws for intellectual property rights are more rigid and strictly being enforced. i wish i could share the email that was sent to us here pero i have no liberty due to company disclosure and communications policy. don't ask me about dun sa salarin, alam kong hiyang hiya siya sa boss namin.

kaya tip dyan sa mahilig mag torrent, kung magdodownload kayo wag nyong gawin sa office. save yourself from shame, mahirap na mawalan ng trabaho ngayon.

+100 I use Ubuntu Studio now on my personal recording PC!
I'd rather be sharp than flat.
