just want to share my experience.
i'm working as a senior software dev and part time network admin dito sa company namin. about two weeks ago we got contacted (they obtained our phone and email info from the ISP) by the legal department of a local music company/distributor. na-inform kami na meron daw nag-dodownload ng copyrighted material (DVD) using our IP address and advised us to stop the illegal download or they will file a copyright infringement case against the company. they have given us the complete details of the download including
- the file being downloaded
- the workstation name
- public ip address
ni-reboot namin yung router para matigil yung download and enforced tighter firewall rule. napinpoint din namin yung workstation (at yung user) na source nung download. this has been a lesson for me personally, now that laws for intellectual property rights are more rigid and strictly being enforced. i wish i could share the email that was sent to us here pero i have no liberty due to company disclosure and communications policy. don't ask me about dun sa salarin, alam kong hiyang hiya siya sa boss namin.
kaya tip dyan sa mahilig mag torrent, kung magdodownload kayo wag nyong gawin sa office. save yourself from shame, mahirap na mawalan ng trabaho ngayon.
