I wrote a paper for a class a couple of years ago along these lines. Here are a couple of excerpts from the paper.

enjoy to ah!

pano kaya tagalugin tong mga to:
solid state amplifier
mixer
amplitude

solid state amplifier - solidong estado na pamapalaki/pampalakas
mixer - tagahalo
amplitude - panukat ng laki/lakas

what the eyes see, what the ears hear, the mind believes.

Audiographer?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audiography

So this term really exists. I think I found the answer to this thread! haha! So am I eligible to use it? It sounds funny when you say it though. Audiographer. take note: say audio as how it really sounds like. It was just last year that learned how to pronounce the word Guitarist correctly. from the root word GUITAR. just add the "ist." Why didnt they just call it Guitarer!

Anlaki naman ng problema ko. haha!

So pag kumalat ang salitang audiographer sa pinas, its fun to assume na dito sa philmusic, kay alien inside nagsimula yan! haha!

Ngayon kasi, pag may studio ka na, pwede ka nang tawaging ENGINEER ( in all three stories: Recording, Mixing and Mastering ).

An Audio course includes subjects like the following:
AUDIO/SOUND - analog/digital
SYNCH/TIMECODE
SAMPLING
MIDI - all MIDI
SYNTHESIS
ACOUSTICS

pakidagdagan kung kulang... or lets just have the 10 MAJOR SUBJECTS... then gawa tayo ng RANKS..

talaga?

because I still believe that that title should only be used exclusively by those people who took  everything it needs to be called Sound Engineer. I just think that by not calling myself an engineer is somehow, a form of respect to their achievements.

I've always thought a sound engineer can be thrown to ANY big or small studio in the world without scratching his head.  Be it a 2" deck with a monster SSL console with 10 ref-sized racks or a laptop full of software.

It is a dying breed indeed. The only consolation that I get is that I can still see fellow Filipinos still striving to get the sound that they want. In other countries that I used to cover, they just slap an Eq and Compressor plugin, call out a preset and they have the pride to call it a mix. Such shame.
