yep, tamiya philippines is located at mactan, cebu. now, this is funny. as what i've been told by my local tamiya authorized merchant...you cannot buy any items directly from there. it would travel first to america or japan before returning back to the philippines for distribution. crazy huh?  :-D

Believe me or not sir. May mga nakakalusot na illegal. Ang daming binebenta at tinatawag na underground. Lalu na sa manila. They sell in bulk. Search niyo yung "Tamiya Underground" sa FB and andun puro nga lang mini 4wd pero the pictures tells you it didn't came close to a shop or distributor. Grabe. Pero lahat yun nakalagay Made In Japan. Wow!!!

yep, illegally, we can score some tamiya items direct from the cebu factory. i have my contact who works there. mostly mini 4wd items. but seasonal lang. i once bought a tamiya double action ab for 1.5 k only. for reference, the srp of that ab is 7.5k.  :)

W.I.P. - Dragon 1/35 Jagdtiger (Item Number 6050) - Part II

Note: Dragon made a mistake in the barrel length of this particular kit.  Their engineers accidentally copied the "recoiled" position of Jagtiger 331's Main Gun which is currently on display at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland USA.

Recently, I wanted to repaint my transformers toys whose paint was dissolved because of ironing aid solution. I think naka expose yung toys nung nag spray habang nagpplantsa.

Anyway, I've read na mukhang pwede yung tamiya acrylic paints dun. I have zero experience with this stuff kaya dumiretso ako ng dry painting. I should've done some thinning with the paint pala bago ko nilagay, kaya ang panget ng kinalabasan hehe  ^-^. I'm planning to do it again by removing the paint with lacquer thinner and perhaps reading more hehe.

Kind sirs, do you have any tips with regards to hand painting? thanks  :)

1. tamiya paints are ok. you can use mayon lacquer thinner to thin it. it is advisable to use an airbrush rather than paint brush to have superb result.

2. if you plan in stripping off the original paint, do not use lacquer thinner. you will "wrinkle" the plastic. just mix water+detergent (tide powder soap) then soak the toy there for 24 hours or more.

I soaked the toys overnight and this morning I saw the paint dissolve. Thanks for the tips sir, it confirmed what I've read previously. Airbrush is the way to go but I think ill have a go with handpainting. Btw, nice work you got there.  :)

I have to agree about Tamiya acrylics being bad for hand brushing, which is weird since that was how I used them when they first came out ages ago. I've since learned my lesson. Soaking in soap water works, but windex can be an insanely fast acrylic paint stripper.

I've seen Vallejo acrylics at Deovir and I managed to score a few. They seem to brush on well but I haven't used them on anything serious yet. Mostly tested the Vallejos in unseen parts of aircraft fuselages to test for coverage. Citadel paints also seem to brush on well. Been looking for the perfect turquoise blue green for MiG interiors that's why I decided to test those 2.

This is the completed model. It only lacks the Balkenkreuz and Tank Number since I accidentally lost the  decal sheet.  :-D
