so sorry to hear that bro! and to think na meron namang churches na overflowing with musicians haha. anyway usually ang ginagamit na tone sa keyboard pag tumutugtog ng hymn is yung "pipe organ", or basta kahit anong organ ang meron na naka-input sa keyboard mo. pag naman sa mga prayers iset mo na lang sya sa original tune, and kadalasan hindi homorhythmic or mala-hymn yung texture ng tugtugin mo para bagay sa prayer. i hope that answered your question. pero if you have more feel free to post some more

thanks brothers. Any tips in playing melodically? improvising (piano)? feeling ko kasi pareparehas lang tunog ko, haha,

meaning kasi ng improvising, may pinagbabasehan kang kanta or theme na alam mo ang tutugtogin mo sya in your own way eh. so mas madali sya kesa sa gagawa ka ng melody on-the-spot.

in playing melodically, usually yung right hand lang naman ang gamit mo. just learn to be able to play in rhythm (nasa proper timing) and implement appropriate fingerings para smooth ang pagplay mo. parang ka lang nagl-lead guitar but much easier actually

para hindi mo maisip na pareparehas lang natutugtog mo, learn to create variations with your left hand, sa chordings mo. hindi mo kailangang madalas nagso-solid chords (sabay sabay ang pagpress sa keys for one chord), pwede mo sya gawing isa-isa lang going up or down, which is called an arpeggio.

bukod dun, try mo rin maglagay ng ornaments (trills, breeze, grace notes, staccato, etc.)

hehe hoped that help  :)

Hello sa TS,

Just joined here few years ago, medyo inactive..

As a tip, usually, depende sa mood yan at target mo.

Target:

1. Youth - Usually, mejo techno ang datingan dyan, more on bright sounds at malutong sa tenga.

Moods:

1. Ministry Time, Messengers' call, Altar Call, - sa first few minutes, mild piano, soft playing keys, kahit anong scale. then pasukan mo ng dual voice na strings, then, completely i-eliminate mo na yung piano, stay-low as usual as possible,

Hope this helps,

Most usually I use the chord inversion 1 - 5 - 8 sa left hand (then usually something like 3 - 8 - 10 and the likes kapag may over na chords) then 5 - 8 sa right hand (usually quarter notes) especially kapag hindi naman piano driven yung songs. Hehe very simple but I find it very effective kasi it sounds full but doesn't cause clashes due to too many notes being played, lalo na pag full band set.  :)

Kapag piano driven songs naman like Glorify Your Name by Lakewood, I do similar inversions padin like the 1 - 5 - 8, but generally more dramatic sounding chords and a little more embellishments sa right hand.

Hehe before mas mahilig ako sa improvisations but later on I learned simpler yet more full sounding ways to play. Pero kapag may times na bumibigat na yung tugtog, that's where I do more improvisations and fill - ins na.

Ayun lamang! Hope this helps! :)

first, try playing with sus2, 7th and 9th chords. kahit 1-6-4-5 progression lang.

and then proper timing.

at last, maging conscious sa flow ng holy spirit. :)

In modern praise & worship na under the influence of Hillsong and so on and so forth, find "PADS" sa keyboards nyo. Assuming that you learned major and minor chords, play the pads & buy a sustain pedal. And play some more pads. :-D

Let's not talk about Israel and New Breed.

Seriously, play from the heart and under the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
