Recommendation, please. I think I had posted this before but I'm too lazy to dig it up, hehe   Anways, I'm checking out for a good, not too expensive, all around tube combo amp. I need either 50 to 100 watts (headroom). I will mainly use this for straight ahead jazz (sax/bass/guitar trio type) and blues gigs. Nothing fancy. Just as long as it has a nice flexible clean sound. NO BOUTIQUES PLEASE! This is just a part timer amp so nothing expensive. I've got some names in mind but I'd rather hear it from the jazz/blues players hear, hehe

Let the post begins!

try my amp! the Canadian Traynors... They have 6l6 and El34 versions.
Di ka magsisi..plenty of headroom and lotsa mids..ang guess what, its not very expensive.

I am using the 80watt - 4x10 speakers equipped YCV80Q. Very nice Fender-y cleans and super din yung OD/gain channels.. check out harmony central for it.

i've never seen a traynor.. would like to try one soon though.. did you say 600Euros for a new 4x10? that's cheaper than a blues deville 4x10 or a Peavey Classic 50 4x10 (or 2x12)

how about the Roland JC120? i heard that's perfect for Jazz..

*nudge* *wink* AC30.. lol!

yep..thats the amp...I tried it before I got my Carvins....it's an amp for any kind of jazz....plugged in an American strat and a RAT dist box...and it's giving fusion and progressive sound jazz tones.......really nice amp.

it was the shop's "display" model...but convert mo sa USD, the price is about right pag binili dyan sa US, which is roughly 750-780 bucks...

I cannot afford to buy an AC30... a Deville will cost me around 1100Euro, which is mahirap ilusot ke misis...

i got this amp as a replacement for my 5150 combo..which has too much gain for me...gusto ko pa rin sana i-keep yung 5150, but di naman na ako nagigig, so it has to go.

now if only i can get a carvin combo some day na around 500bucks lang hehe....

stratman1 - you prolly already know this but you can try solid states too. lotsa jazzers use em. the polytone in particular is preferred by many.  Roland Jazz Chorus, as suggested, works too.  i used to own a Yamaha G100 amp, a model which Mike Stern uses, that was perfect for jazz, especially due to its parametric eq.   they're very flexible tone-wise. my TM-60 is similar in flexibility. pwede rin sya for jazz.

Yeah... I know abput the tranny/jazz thing. Polytone are nice jazz amps. The thing is I will also use this amp for blues jam/gig with od.  So far, I've been having bad experience using my pedals with solid state amps (no offense to solid state amp owners, hehe. don't any flames here). I have a G100 here with me but I'm not keen witht he sound I'm getting with it.

oh ok, sorry to hear that it's not working for you.  w/ tube amps for jazz kasi, it's hard to get clean headroom AND still be able to carry the amp to gigs.  yung G100 is compact but already quite heavy.

medyo tricky nga yung OD pedal + SS amp. i'll second my own suggestion for a TM60 - it works well w/ my OD pedals.

if it's really gotta be tube, the guys make some great suggestions above.

I agree with you on the weight of the G100. Man, talagang mabigat. Parang magkaka hernia ako pag buhatan na, hehe

+1 Polytone Mini Brute IV.. its solid state but works quite well with a dirt box. Kurt Rosenwinkel uses the same with a Turborat Pro Co. If you can get a hand on the 80's model, its really good

Rivera Studio Jake Combo 55W is also a good option

Though the ff are low wattage amps, a lot of jazz and blues players gig with a Fender Blues Junior or a Pro Junior
Notes are clever ways of getting from one silence to another
