Bass Drum Tuning and Head Selection thread
« on: July 18, 2014, 10:34:22 AM »

Thinking of getting EMAD2 over EMAD Reso(Ported) or EQ3 Reso(Ported). Pero ano ba masasabi niyo dito?

Ano ba difference ng Aquarian SKII(2-ply), EMAD2(2-ply) at EMAD(1-ply)?
May marerecommend pa ba kayo na bass drum head? As much as possible sana 2-ply. Salamat!! :-D

I can't recommend kick heads because I'm very very happy with the stock ones that came with my kit.
Stuck a pillow inside and tuned the batter tight and I've got a thwacky and still quite boomy sound.  :-D

Malaki ang epekto ng reso head sa bass, but as to whether it's there or not, or ported and how big the port is.
A closed one is quite boomy, if you're tuning it up tight like a friend of mine does, it will be really resonant,
good for jazz and surprisingly, unmiked rock music. Ported ones are a bit airier and more open unmiked.
Kicks with no resos are really tight upfront, but will lack projection and the low overtones. You have to mike them.

Super kick 2 is the one for me! No muffling required,
If you got the one with hole, the bass would loose the boomy sound but it would have a great attack.

SKII rin ako. one of the good ones I used :D

I've got the old skool Ambassador coated batter and un-ported reso. Cloth strips on both heads. Medium tension. BOOM!

I'm leaning on just adjusting the spring tension sa Pedal ko or maybe sa foot technique, any other tips po?

*drum is a Pearl Vision Birch(ply) VBA

TIA.

adjusting spring tension will help, but if you're talking about killing the bounce as in you want to keep the beater on the skin after a hit, well, you shouldn't  :)

yup sir, I do not keep the beater on the batter surface even when heel down. looks like spring tension it is then..  :-D

:-( that's how I found out low spring tension wasn't my style  :)

Haha, the opposite way for a metal kind of pedal hahaha.pero I can control na movement
Of the pedal kung ibury ko yung beater or let it bounce,it's just adjustment of technique
