What's a nice pair of cans for less than 4K? I need:

- circumaural or supra-aural
- closed back
- balanced mids and highs, bass boost
- cables aren't [gooey brown stuff]
- has to look good (I'll consider Sennheisers, but they look... meh)

I'd get a Grado SR60e for the price, but the response isn't what I'm looking for. I need something that reproduces resonant bass/synths really well (think This Is What It Feels Like by Banks). And it has to look good. No-go for the Beats though, hate the styling 

Any advice?

ok yung coloud, pero hasel yung inline controls, kasi call button lang meron  pero durability wise sumuko sakin yung lumang coloud ko parang sinasakan ng big muff yung isang channel 

kkunin mo na! tapos ibenta mo yung item na yun para effectively rebate/discount sya

Depende sa model. But generally amps make the sound tighter, especially when using low impedance cans that don't really need those kinds of amps

I see. Pag nagmimix-mix kasi using headphone(walang budget pang monitors at acoustic treatment at room nadin) pag direct to sound card yung headphone nahihinaan ako. Di kaya ipower nung soundcard ng todo yung headphone.

Kung para dun, ok yung mga portable amps para umabot sa usable listening level. Beyond that level yun, it starts to tighten up the sound, but not really much more.

Generally, these portable amps are useful if
-signal is weak
-you use high impedance headphones
-you can bypass the internal DAC or have a line out
-any or all of the above

Not useful if
-signal isn't weak
-you use low impedance headphones
-you can't bypass the internal DAC or there's no line out
