theres something wrong with my mixer

ayun, theres something wrong with my mixer..

hehe.. eto ung prob.. i was playing some new compositions of mind and try to record it para hnd ko makalimutan.. ang prob, hiniwalay ko kasi ng channels ung guitar at vocals (guitar-left, vocals-right) para hiwalay ung tunog nila tapos mix nalang after.. when started recording, left channel lang ung pumapasok sa DAW ko.. pero nakikita ko sa LED ng mixer both were working fine.. so ginawa kong center nalang ung dalawa.. tapos nakikita ko sa DAW ko na may pumapasok sa both channels pero nawawala-wala ung right.. sa tape-out ung output ng mixer plugged to the onboard sound card ung cable using RCA-stereo.. could it be the cable im using? baka sira.. or sumthin else is wrong? minsan ko lang naman ginagamit ung mixer, last na gamit ko yata ay last month pa.. peavey pv8 ung mixer ko.. aun.. need help hehe..

what audio interface are u using? are u using an onboard soundcard?

are u using this kind of cable?

yes thats the cable im using.. bought it at ace hardware kasi mura.. ung DAW ko, cool edit pro.. at yes, onboard soundcard lang.. i usually use it kasi nakakalimutan ko mga tono ng songs ko pag nagmamadali ako..

Cables are usually the first point of failure especially if you constantly plug and unplug them. Next would be the  jacks themselves. Short of experiencing a power spike, also check your soundcard's mixer settings. Some software like media players and games trend to fudge around with the volume settings. Lastly, if you experience power spikes and or outages, the acrid smell of of burning silicon will tell you that a component has failed; that's why i often recommend getting a UPS for sensitive electronic gear.

thanx.. ill buy another cable kasi ung stack ko ng cables nawala lahat eh.. 1 nlng natira saken naiwan ko sa school nung nagaaral pako.. pag hnd parin gumana, i think ill have it checked.. san ba pwede magpaayos ng mixers? love ko kasi un eh..

Bos Kit, remember the cheap china mixer at PIMP ? Where the left channel output is the dry signal and the right channel is the wet signal ?

Had to learn the hard way : just cough a little extra dough and at least get a Behringer.

Yeah, BAMF. At least we got it working... as a talkback/headphone monitor feed system! 

The OP's mixer is a Peavey PV-8, I wouldn't think it's like that china POS we use that pretends it's a mixer (no offense intended). From my experience, one should always check cables and routing first. One more item that's easily overlooked, panning.

No offense taken. Buti nga napakinabangan pa. Haay. Sayang 4.5k ko. Isang libo na lang equivalent na Behringer na sana yun. Maling pagtitipid.

actually, i bought this for me to start learning recording stuff.. i thought i should start by learning how a mixer works then go on to another.. ayun, nastuck nako d2 kasi naging busy at ginagamit ko nalang cya pangrecord ng mga new songs na makakalimutan ko dn ung tono mya2.. hehe.. hnd ko pa cya ule natry kanina kasi galing akong work inaantok ako,, GY shift nga naman..
