BOI swaps third CARS player with PUV modernization program

The Board of Investments (BOI) has announced that it decided to reallocation of funds for the final slot of the Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy (CARS) program. Due to lack of a third qualified automaker, the $200 million will be allocated to supporting the Department of Transportation's (DOTr) public utility vehicle (PUV) modernization program.

Toyota Motor Philippines and Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation were the only automakers that agreed to meet the 200,000-unit volume requirement and qualified for the CARS program.

Other distributors and importers expressed serious interest in joining the CARS program, but have asked for the production obligation to be lowered.

yung 18 seaters ba yung nasakyan mo sir? 15 seaters yung nabili ni papa, pero hindi pa namin nasubukan at full capacity. para sa amin, ok naman yung airconditioning. nasa 11 o'clock pa 'yung thermostat at number 1 lang yung fan speed. pag nilalamig na nga ako, sinasara ko yung vents, pero sumisingaw pa rin ng kaunti yung lamig. pag sa harap ka naman, kahit dalawang vents lang ang nakabukas, sakto na yung lamig. yung tipong hindi ka makakaramdam ng chill. masusubukan ang airconditioning nito pagdating pa ng summer.

DTI to issue guidelines on PUV modernization

MANILA, Philippines -  The Department of Trade and Industry’s Bureau of Philippine Standards (BPS) has come out with a draft Philippine National Standard (PNS) on public utility vehicles (PUV) under the government’s modernization program.


The draft PNS, targeted to be finalized by September, includes the dimensional standard for PUVs.

In particular, it specifies dimensional limits for PUVs or vehicles used for the carriage of passengers, comprising more than eight seats in addition to the driver’s seat, and having a maximum mass not exceeding five tons.

Also included in the dimensional limits are the vehicle’s overall height, width and length, wheelbase and front and rear overhang, cabin, seat and seat lay out, step board, service door and emergency exit.

A BPS technical committee composed of various representatives from the academe, industry, consumers’ organization, professional association, research institution, government agencies, and, testing institutions developed the standards concerning compatibility, interchangeability and safety, with particular reference to terminology and test procedures for evaluating the performance of the road vehicles.

BNEW CAR 4X Engine error ang mirage ko in 5 months at hanggang ngayon di pa inaayos kasi nga NAKA WELGA daw sila. Ako daw ang kailangan mag adjust para sa kanila! nag email na ako sa main ng mitsubishi at ito ang kwento...

I bought a brand new car to avoid this dilemma. Since January 2017 (DOP) I experienced 4X engine error. and the last 2 months is the worst service ever.

April 2017 - Engine error, a problem in burnt wire harness going to the cylinder.

May 16, 2017 - unit towed because of the same engine error.

May 16, 2017 - unit jerking and engine error and took 10 days to be fix and last 2 days to work. what kind of service is this?

June 2, 2017 - had the same engine error. they reset the computer box and they told me it will be fine. then the next day it had the same error.

June 4, 2017 - Engine error again, They checked it and said that the catalytic needs replacement and they want me to adjust my schedule according to what fits their schedule. really? this kind of customer service?

June 10, 2017 - still no parts available and they need to hook it again to the diagnostic machine for warranty claims. after that engine error again.

June 17-24, 2017 - they told me that I need to wait for them to go back in full operation because of the employees protest they don't want to work. (Mitsubishi must be joking, your customers need to suffer in your internal problems?)

and finally today there is still no update when will my car fix. thanks for your very incompetent service. I deserve a replacement unit!

Not need to mention what they did to me last May 2017 when my car stopped and needs towing because of the engine error. And please take note what they did to me, see this SMS screen shots for your reference. they are sucking money from me and claiming that the main cause of the problem is the fuel. but earlier before I go there the CS told me that they part to check the fuel and there is no problem from the fuel nor the fuel lines. And when they want me to pay for the cleaning and the service charge. Really? It is very clear that there is a problem in the catalytic or any parts in the car that needs to replace if you check the history of the repair. Why do they need to claim that there is no problem with the car and sucks money from me?

PNP recovers 606 stolen cars in rent-sangla scheme

MANILA, Philippines - Operatives of the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (HPG) have recovered 606 of 1,800 vehicles stolen in the “rent-sangla” scheme.

Senior Insp. Jem Dellantes, deputy spokesman of the HPG, said last Friday that 463 vehicles were recovered in the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) region.

He said 64 more vehicles were recovered in other regions, 37 cars were retrieved in Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) while 79 more were recovered by other police operating units.


The figure does not include the vehicles recovered by the National Bureau of Investigation and other law enforcement agencies.
