Title: Karma/Reputation/Feedback System *merged*
Post by: Valve on September 14, 2005, 02:45:07 PM
Can you make a Sticky sa Buy and Sell Forum for feedback reference ng mga members dito?? I've dealt with a lot of members here, most of them became friends after dealing with them. Yung ibe, puro deadbeat. Just want to weed out those tirekickers, para sa ibang members na din. Thanks.

suggestion lang ho. Pero hindi ko alam kung magugustuhan ng iba :)

maybe you guys can have a karma system. Para marate namin yung mga peeps na tumutulong dito. Kasi before, may nagaaway sakin dito eh marami na siyang inaway. Ayaw ko lang mabiktima yung iba sakanya.

Share and suggestion lang ho :)

hehe

panong karma system? like sa youtube wherein pwede ka mag-thumbs up sa comments ganun? for me ha it will not be feasible, kasi madali maggawa ng bagong account tapos yun yung gamitin to "up" your reputation dito philmusic. da best pa rin ang trust pare, esp. pag transactions. or baka may suggestions mga experts, pwede pa naman mag-sway ang notion ko.

I have experienced this on other forums and imho I am not for it.

It creates issues and further confusion since credibility of the voter is not verified and remains anonymous as well.

I do not think this will help us in any way. :|

Me too i'm not for it, sa isang forum na kinabibilangan ko eh halos makipagpatayan na sila dahil sa karma function. Mostly pa mga newbies... they would take it seriously. Minsan nakakatawa na lang...

We use Simple Machines Forum (SMF), an open source BBS. If there's a free Karma system plug-in for SMF out there, I'd like to know about it.

Thought about it... I think this user-defined "reputation" system could be quite controversial. It's like opening a can of worms and will lead to a lot of fights - which we need like a hole in the head :-)

Title: Positive and Negative feedbacks!
Post by: yozhee on May 17, 2010, 11:07:54 PM
I suggest to admin if you can create/add a negative and positive feedback so that all members are aware on that member if he/she is nice to deal with and it's easy to monitor how many positive/negative he/she has. It's only a suggestion for awareness of all members. Thanks!

This is ok. However, Philmusic is not really a Buy and Sell site but a music forum website.

This forums was not originally meant to be a buy and sell forum; this was just added on as a feature.

The admins will look into this, but for now, just exercise caution when transacting.
Title: Reputation Points system for the classifieds section ...
Post by: toysuki07 on August 11, 2011, 01:23:52 AM
Sana may reputation points / karma adding or deducting system dito sa PM tulad sa other forum, 'otakai figure society'... Reputation points are given to a member which you transacted with.. Pwedeng positive or negative points .. Para malaman ng mga members kung pwede bang pagkatiwalaan yung makaka deal nila based on his / her points :)

A machinery to drive a popularity contest.

I'm sure this will cast halo effect on some undeserving members while others will be unjustly branded with it's negative counterpart. Whatever the case maybe, I hope this does not promote more division and intolerance in PM.

simply put, it's a "like" and "unlike" button here that forumites could utilize to either promote or downgrade a certain member's standing here at PM. like everything else, it could be either used for good or for evil. it's only at it's early stage so please do expect further developments that would be implemented for the betterment of PM. cheers!

just click the applaud or smite button sa ilalim ng profile nung forumite. yes, it is definitely intended for classifieds use. merong 28 days cooldown time in between karma applications per member para hindi minu-minuto yung gawin ng ibang potential scammers/haters if ever.

technically (and unfortunately) yes; as much as free will and freedom of expression is concerned. it is at it's early stages though; more developments would be implemented eventually to control and promote the proper administration of karma points.

How about using the "karma" function.  I've seen some forums where if someone post something good, people click "applaud" then if they post something not worthwhile, then people click "smite".  Not sure if this will work here in our culture, not sure if it will do more good than bad (like make the site more "clickish" than more welcoming).  Anyway, just a thought, you may "smite" me if you think this is not a good idea, haha

+1
Let us not forget the web-culture of the "troll". People with intentions that are not so appealing, and are immature in nature, may create accounts for the sole purpose of "joy-smiting".

exactly the reason as to why the karma function was taken out of general use and was delegated strictly for mod utilization.

Ok ung idea para at-least alam nang mga buyer sino ung mga legit/good sellers.   :)

but as always - it's a double edged sword, it's effects are defined by those who wield it. we have existing threads about seller reps posted in the classifieds sections; worked fine even before the implementation of the karma point system.

I've raised certain points to admin re upgrading the karma reputation system, by which we could further monitor and control karma implementation and utilization. if by any chance it pushes through, then we're seeing karma utilization for all forumites by which specifically could be used at the classifieds section re seller rep. I'll be updating this thread for any further information re these matters. thanks!

Title: UPDATED FEATURE: CLASSIFIEDS FEEDBACK
Post by: Gunslinger on January 18, 2013, 09:57:15 PM
Previously, under our post count was a Karma count. Now it's replaced by Seller Feedback. Can the mods explain to us how do we get merit or demerit points? This will be really helpful when selling our gears. Back then, I always keep a record of my transactions and the seller/buyer's comments at the Buy and Sell Reference Thread. With this new function, dealing with forumers will be easier with regards to credibility.

More power PhilMusic.

I just made that modification a few minutes ago. Still drafting how this would go though. I would post updates later on the day (I'm on night shift so that's technically tomorrow lol!)  :-D

Update 12/19/2013:

I'll be utilizing the pre-existing Classifieds: Buy and Sell Reference Thread as the report thread per board. forumites would need to provide detailed feedback as well as the link to the item bought/sold. upon mod concurrence, mods would then appoint the necessary feedback point to the said seller.

Q: Could forumites provide feedback points themselves instead?
A: Nope. though majority of the forumites are trustworthy, we still can't take the risk of having a trigger happy forumite assigning feedback points just for the heck of it or worst..

Q: Could we trust the mods to give objective feedback?
A: Yes. duly assigned mods would base their actions from the feedback made by said forumite to a certain seller and not due to subjective/personal reasons. they are mods for a distinct reason after all.

We would be appending more rules and regulations based on feedback and deliberation as we go along the way. Any other questions or suggestions?

@TS - hope you don't mind me posting this for the benefit of educating other forumites:

How can we provide a link of the item sold if the link was already erased by the mods? Like when I marked my item "SOLD" on the thread title. When I tried to check it again by using the url I saved, I cannot access it anymore. Medyo mahirap ata yung magbibigay pa ng link? Anyway, these are my transactions for reference:

Reply 707 http://talk.philmusic.com/?index.php/topic=28614.msg2722561.html#msg2722561

Reply 1022 http://talk.philmusic.com/index.php?topic=28614.msg3588143#msg3588143

I was supposed to integrate all of my deals on one post (on 707). Unfortunately, there is a maximum number of characters that can be inputted so I made a new post for it (on 1022).

According to the above:

Since toybitz implemented his new rule of maintaining 1 to 2 pages of thread in the classifieds, all of the comments I received from forumers were deleted. Would this be a little unfair for some of us members putting an effort to get our buyers to comment on that one specific thread for future reference and/or credibility, and just having it deleted by a mod?

You may be or may not be aware of this issue but I have discussed this before with toybitz. Unfortunately, he cannot revert back what he has deleted.

Since this was just newly implemented, only transactions from today moving forward would be counted, as it would be too tedious for all of us to backtrack on each transaction that had transpired in the past. I agree with you that we cannot base points from anything once a said thread has been deleted. However, what we mods had talked about and had agreed to in the last mod meeting was we'll be retaining threads good for a year before deleting it. With that in mind, there would be more than enough time for us to check and provide appropriate seller feedback. as for the seller feedback point system, we'll be providing 1 seller point per item transaction. we'll be basing it from buyer feedback good from the implemented date moving forward.

re thread maintenance, what I'm looking at here is getting buyers to comment on the seller feedback thread instead of the TS threads. That way, feedback would be consolidated under one thread. Numerous feedback on a single item wouldn't be counted more than the necessary seller point earned just in case some people opt to do certain sneaky moves. :-P

Additional FAQ:

Q: Could I get seller points from all the transactions that I've had ever since?
A: Since it would be too tedious for all us mods to backtrack on each and every one, base timeline for all seller points would start from today (01/20/2013) moving forward.

Q: Could I get them to provide feedback on my thread instead?
A: Yes. but it's easier for us (and everyone else for that matter) to check the seller report thread as trade reference. We don't have the time to check all your threads just too see if you have any successful transactions for points etc.

Q: Would I get more points if I get more feedback?
A: That depends. 1 feedback per 1 transaction = 1 point. Multiple feedback on a single transaction or feedback on an already sold item prior to the base timeline wouldn't be counted. those who are foolish enough to commit sneaky moves won't only demerit points, but also would be given negative feedback on top of temporary suspension. it's that harsh.

Buyer feedback could be placed in the pre-existing "Classifieds: Buy and Sell Reference Thread" as well. I already gave points to sellers based from buyer feedback. si Gunslinger 13 yung pinakarecent na nakakuha ng seller feedback point.

So here's the thing. the "Classifieds Feedback" system was used to be known as "Karma". the "Karma" system was pretty vague, mods only found use for it in general to "smite" violators in general or "applaud" certain members as we find fit (e.g. rockophoria creating an IOS app for PM etc.)

Now, since I updated it to act specifically as "Classifieds Feedback" recently, here are certain clarifications:

  • Q: You might have either a positive or negative feedback already, prior to the feedback function change. Could one have them updated or reset?
  • A: That depends. If you already have positive feedback and still want it reset, you've earned my respect for setting a fair game. If you have negative feedback and want it reset, well, we do have certain considerations to follow:
Why do I have negative feedback?
  • You violated PM's rules and regulations (not necessarily restricted to the classifieds rules and regulations but in general)
  • You posted a non-musical item in the unclassifieds board.
  • Q: Since my negative feedback was a remnant from the previous karma function, could I have it reset then?
  • A: Yes. I could reset it for you. but here's the catch: I'll be giving you a warning point instead. you still violated a rule and we're not looking at forgetting about it anytime soon. it is fair enough IMHO. (at least this time, you could earn back your worth.. or posting capabilities for that matter). But if you violated a classifieds rule, well then, it's your fault for not reading the rules and regulations.
  • Q: What's a warning point? I don't get it..

FYI your "Classified Feedback" term is misleading people. some potential buyers ng mga items ko backed out because they saw 2 negative feedbacks on my profile. them thinking na may bad transaction ako thats why i got the 2 negative feedbacks, and i would also think the same way if i saw someone with a negative "CLASSIFIED FEEDBACK" until i saw riff*&@ explanation, on ebay, tipidpc and sulit, classified feedback means feedback on transactions, not by violating site rules. mods sorry sa term na gagamitin ko but who ever came up with that does not know what he is doing and is misleading people. specially giving rockophoria a POSITIVE CLASSIFIED FEEDBACK when the reason he got that is not because of being a good seller but by contributing some programming for the site does not really makes sense and is stupid. hope you guys or whoever came up with that can use your brain, ban me if you want but i just wanted to let you know you came up with an idiot idea whoever you are.

and now i remember why i got a classified ad locked by bitoy and got banned for 15 days without even asking me what my intention was really for doing that. programmer din ako. at ang ginagawa ko dati eh pag nag a up ako ng classified ko dine delete ko yung previous up ng ad ko. ang dahilan ko eh to keep my ad clean and to prevent pagination on my post  and contribute too so i can free up database space as you know 1 post eats up 1 row on your database and too many rows makes the database query slow. kung iisipin mo i was actually contributing optimizing the database and cleaning up the forum.

sinusunod ko naman yung 1 day up. hindi na ako nag reklamo dahil ayoko na patulan yung ibang mod dito na isip bata at nag po power trip and hindi rin naman din big deal sakin dahil i have a life. pero kung i rereview niyo yung ginawa ko sinunod ko yung 1 day up policy niyo bago ako mag delete ng previous up. just clarifying myself up and just wanted to shake the mods up.

thank you

Point taken.

Here's the thing, the now classifieds feedback system is a revamp of the old karma system. back then, the karma system was vague in nature, both forumites and mods didn't know how to utilize it, let alone was a rule being followed as to how it should be used. As such, it was open to all kinds of interpretation. Some use it to give someone a commendation for a great job done, some use it to smite members who violate rules in general, and some even use it for the sake of giving an applaud to a fellow member/mod.

As you or the majority may had been aware, the mods recently held a meetup last January to discuss how to properly streamline PM's rules and regulations. One of the topics covered was how to improve the user's experience. I for one volunteered to revamp the karma system to be utilized as classifieds feedback instead.

Given the previous nature of the karma system, there would still be remnants of ye olde ways. Such was the reason I posted this message:

So here's the thing. the "Classifieds Feedback" system was used to be known as "Karma". the "Karma" system was pretty vague, mods only found use for it in general to "smite" violators in general or "applaud" certain members as we find fit (e.g. rockophoria creating an IOS app for PM etc.)

  • A: Well, you could check out the details here:
NEW FEATURE: MOD WARNING NOTIFICATION
http://talk.philmusic.com/index.php?topic=283677.0

Questions? Just do let me know!

Q: What if I got a negative feedback, could you tell me why or how it happened?

A: If it was a valid classifieds feedback or was given during the implementation of the revamped feedback system, then YES we could. We have an archive/repository of all classified threads that violated PM's rule that we could check and present as evidence. If in case we don't have any evidence against you, then consider your feedback reset. You would then recieve a notification re your feedback being reset. But as mentioned earlier, this would still be logged in the records since you did earned a negative feedback though vague in nature. You did something to earn that said feedback and we're not looking at forgetting about it anytime soon. At least you get to start over with a clean slate. well, in a way I guess.. hope that cleared up a few notions.

Hi All,

In line with PM's continuous effort in improving the user's experience, we'll be utilizing a rating widget courtesy of gorated.ph:

Free and Easy to integrate Rating Widget for PhilMusic Sellers/Members
http://talk.philmusic.com/index.php?topic=287569.0

I've disabled the Karma/feedback feature to give way for this improvement. Please install and provide feedback. Thank you.

For more discussion about the new feedback/rating system for the classifieds, go to this thread http://talk.philmusic.com/index.php?topic=287569.new;topicseen#new (http://talk.philmusic.com/index.php?topic=287569.new;topicseen#new)

Some members have their own rating widget for their profiles already.

why not have someone code a custom plugin for this to cater exactly what's needed here ?

It's a custom plug-in though but the rating-activities data are saved to GoRated.PH (3rd Party). It's the best set-up that we can have since the data can be portable to other platforms. For example, you have your own website, you can use the same rating widget that you use with www.philmusic.com for your website.

We (GoRated.PH team) is planning/working to partner with other local classified sites such as tipidpc.com, pinoyphotography.org etc. so that your online reputation at philmusic.com will be portable to other platforms as well.
Title: New Feature: Reputation Power
Post by: Gunslinger on March 17, 2013, 12:09:14 PM
So how does this work? How do we gain points? What does green bar and red bar mean?

..and why in the world the word repütation censored? Because of the word "püta" in it? lol

So how does this work? How do we gain points? What does green bar and red bar mean?

Just logged in, haven't checked it out yet. here's the description in the SMF site though.

Advanced Reputation System v1.8.3 for SMF 2.0 RC5

Introduction

A full Karma System replacement, with adjustable reputation settings and an in-post rate/comment popup box.

Features
o Reputation sent is now based on the giver's reputation
o Popup box can be activated in posts wherein reputation can be sent with a comment
o Members can view their own reputation by going to action=profile;sa=reputation
o :: Moderators (or anyone with permission) can delete reputation actions on this screen
o Reputation can be given per post, per thread, on account birthday, and on registration and more!

Q: we already have the gorated widget haven't we, are we utilizing 2 functions for the ratings then?
A: The gorated widget is a more practical and universal app re seller rep. I could try to tweak the new karma function for mod use instead.

..and why in the world the word repütation censored? Because of the word "püta" in it? lol

I guess so.. haha! I'll try to fix it out too. :-P

EDIT: Fixed the censor settings!

ngayon green na, bro!  I'm also wondering about that green (or red) thing below the reputation power. so far, the mods haven't explained to us what this is.  :? my theory on the reputation power however is I think it's for credibility. it's like the basis on whether or not you can trust a certain forumer but the odd thing is parang exaggerated naman yung nga values ng reputation power. umaabot pa ng 1999999.

I see. Maybe in the near future you might see someone posting here www.peopleperhour.com (http://www.peopleperhour.com) about a certain need for guitar guys. That might be a good use of your porting your online reputation gathered from PhilMusic.com.

Hi Guys,

Re the reputation power app, it was supposed to be an upgrade from the previous classifieds feedback system that we've utilized prior to the gorated widget implementation. I've tried checking it out and see as to how we'd be able to utilize it side by side with gorated. thing is:

I may have to ask qen take it out. [gooey brown stuff]'s too complicated to work with even for me.

so there we go. please do ignore it for the meantime until further updates. thanks! :-P
