Sabado na naman! Wala munang pedal mods this week kundi diy clone naman. Sinubukan ko gumawa ng pedal based sa schematic ng proco rat mula sa mga tira tira kong parts.  Eto kinalabasan

The Splat Rat


Too much gain kaya "splatty" ang tunog.  Kasing laki lang din siya ng Mi-Audio pedals. I bought the enclosure sa jaycar electronics dito sa AU at parehong pareho sila ng m-audio, mukhang dun lang nilabinibili yung components.


Breadboard lang Nilagyan ko ng dalawang DIL switch para sa clipping section kaya pwede mag set ng dalawang clipping modes na pwedeng piliin via mini spdt switch sa harap. ang options ay silicon diode, led, mosfet tsaka germanium diodes. sa ngayon ang favorite clipping modes ay yung led tsaka yung mosfet. ok din yung silicon, pag germanium diode naman ang clipping, ang laki ng bawas sa volume nung pedal at mas mataas yung gain.


Ang gamit kong opamp ay lm308. Ok din yung NE5534AP na chip, mas malinis ang tunog.

Yung knobs, same as rat, dirt, tone at volume. Dalawang switch, yung isa para sa clipping mode, yung isa booster mode. Siyempre true bypass and clear blue LED

nagcheck uli ako at nakita ko na mali pala connection ko sa tone knob kaya naging "splatty" ang tunog. now using the germanium diodes as the clippers, this pedal sounds so sweet!

Isa pang demo uli using Germanium diode clipping and Mosfet clipping. 



I found some problems in the circuit kaya masyadong bassy yung pedal. Binalik ko uli yung LM308 and changed the clipping control panel  instead na LED, germanium diode (OA91) ang gamitin.

thanks. naghahanap uli ako ng magandang sticker for my next two projects, a zen drive clone and a ts808 clone.

thanks pala sa mga nag-iinquire sa splatRAT. nakakataba kayo ng puso however i have no plans of mass producing this pedal (as mention in my first post in this thread, though i'm decided to build three more for my friends at dun sa naunang nag-inquire for free, kung may spare time  ). it will be a violation of IPR kung i-mass produce ko and make profit of proco's design.

Malapit na matapos.  Circuit is based on the Ibanez ts808 circuit with modifications to add more bass, better tone knob and gain knob range.



Features :

Clipping control panel - switch between GE, Silicon, LED and Mosfet clipping section
Clipping mode selector - switch between two clipping setting set in the control panel
Asymmetrical/Symmetrical switch- change clipping modes by removing or adding another diode in the clipping section
TS808 to TS9 switch - add more treble by switching to TS9
True Bypass
Hi grade components
Swappable IC - right now it's using a Texas Instrument RC4558 chip.

Malapit na matapos. I'm cleaning up the connections.

And this pedal has an owner already Will post clips/videos soon. Stay tuned.

Thanks Laur. Pinagtripan ko kagabi yung ts808 clone. Swapped a few more components to have more bass and more gain. It does have a good overdriven sound. Pero honestly, I'm not a tube screamer / SRV tone fanatic. Nai-compare ko din yung tunog sa mga videos na available sa youtube, no doubt, this baby is a certified tube screamer clone. Pero I love hard rock and heavy metal distortion sounds kaya for my next project, kahit may parts na ako, I'll be aborting my zen drive clone project for a DIY heavy metal pedal.

Ok, I'll be in Manila for one week, the first week of January . I'll be bringing with me 3 (three) brand new modded SD-1s for sale. I'll be buying the pedals here in Sydney sa Allan's Music (google nyo nalang) for $90 (Php 3000). Unahan nalang, pwede magpareserve.

Also, I'll be accepting pedal modifications (SD-1, CS-3, GE-7) sa while I'm in Manila pero for 5 forumites lang. The SD-1 mods will cost from 300-600 pesos, dipende kung anong chip ang gusto nyo. For the CS-3 and GE-7, I will post the prices later.

Again, first come first serve. Tatlong SD-1s lang and pedal mods. Yung magpapareserve sa pedal mods at bibili ng modded sd-1s, post nyo nalang names ninyo dito para ma-iprepare ko yung pedals and parts.
