Drums & Gear endorsement
« on: September 06, 2006, 12:24:15 PM »
Sarap 'no?

So Be It.

Si Vic Mercado, Jun Regalado, and Ernie Severino are endorsers of Zildjian Cymbals. You can check out their profiles in www.zildjian.com. I dunno about other endorsers tho.

Jun Regalado - Premier drums
Bo Razon - Toca percussion

from Audiophile Components, Inc.

Yeah, JB Music has this endorsement program for some of the products that they carry (in particular, for Zildjian, Gretsch & Gibraltar).

We have a number of Pinoy drummers who happen to endorse Zildjian cymbals --- Jun Regalado, Ernie Severino (Side A), Mar Dizon, Mike Alba, Vic Mercado (Bamboo), Wolf Gemora (Wolfgang), Paco Arespacochaga...  Though I'm not sure if some of these drummers still endorse Zildjian up to this day.

Mike Alba, Vic Mercado and Mark Escueta (Rivermaya) endorse Gretsch drums.

I was told that Yupangco is working on endorsement programs in the future for the brands that they carry (Pearl, Sabian & Vic Firth in particular).  But I don't know about that yet.

I e-mailed Paco Arespacochaga a few years ago, and we talked about product endorsements (in particular, with Zildjian).  I kept the e-mail, and here are a few lines from Paco:

Of course, playing the drums and being passionate about it is a given if you want to endorse a product.  But the big chunk of it is marketing.

If and when you decide to join the Zildjian family, they will base everything on your marketability, ability and personality.

Marketability - Jun Regalado, Wolf Gemora, Paco Arespacochaga, Ernie Severino, Mar Dizon, Michael Alba... all these names have made names for themselves!  It has to be that strong.  When you say Wolf Gemora... Wolfgang diba!?!  Or Ernie Severino... Side A!?!

Ability - You need this because Zildjian will require you to do clinics to impart your talent to your audience as well as to let audience be aware about Zildjian.

Personality - Likeability, daming fans, magnet (or chick drummer magnet) or anything related!   You should have that positive feedback all the time.  Dapat, when the people at JB start their research about you and ask industry people about you, they should give a positive feedback about you.

On a personal note, I believe that when you want to endorse a certain product, you should sincerely believe in the product.  It's not just about getting free gear and artist exposure.  It's great to endorse a product that you actually use or want to use.

It's like, say, in a fastfood tv commercial... You see this celebrity endorser munching on a certain fastfood resto's food.  But in reality, he or she doesn't really enjoy eating their food hehehe!

O, dba?

for endorsing low end ones... I think, medyo complicated, sabi nga nung isa dapat u believe in wat u endorse. e pano tutugtog sa malaking gig kung di maganda sounds mo? on the other hand, lahat ng mga sikat n brand, nagsimula s low end, tama ba?

Not all.  There are manufacturers who do not make entry-level models.  Most of them are boutique companies offering high-quality products.  Examples of boutique, custom drum manufacturers are Brady, Magstar and Dunnett drums.

Well, I'm interested.  But I'd rather have somebody approach me, than for me to apply personally.

Tsaka wala pa akong recording credit/s, which I think is a requirement for most endorsement programs.  Maybe after our album comes out...  8-)

Thanks for the kind thought, bro Bammbamm.  I sincerely appreciate it.  :-)

Personally, I still feel that there's still so much work to do.   I still have so much to improve and develop.  I think it's also a give-and-take thing.  I want to endorse products that I sincerely believe in and really want to use.  And I hope that whoever will be endorsing me would sincerely believe in me and support me.  It's not only about marketing and getting free stuff.  I value the "relationship" side of business.

It's great that a Zildjian artist like bro Dindin Moreno is active here in our Forum.  I know Vic Mercado and Mark Escueta are also "signed up" with Pinoydrums, though they are not that active.  Some of the "big names" in the local drumming scene may not be active in Pinoydrums, but I'm sure they are artists whom you can meet during their gigs and events, and eventually have a nice drum talk with.

So parang, secondary lang yung endorsement ng products..It's like, hey come buy some tickets  and see our gig then we'll talk about this and that of drums and gears...?

....I dont know, maybe Im expecting too much from endorsers. Maybe I have an ideal endorser, y'know,..someone who you can hang around casually, share everything drums, meet during eb's..etc. ..but not obviously drum talking out endorsement purpose, diba?

..just a piece of my mind. Peace! :-)

opinyon lang mga tsong. sa tingin ko nman hindi porke d tambay dito ung mga ibang endorsers eh d na ok diba? i dont think we should expect them to hang out here or be a member here kasi endorser sila, dont you think thats to much to ask?. maybe they are just to busy playing music or practicing etc. para saken kaya nga may clinic for us to hang or ask questions with those guys. and im sure as dio said pag punta naten sa gig nila makaka usap naten ung mga yun, bout drums etc. i thnk those guys like mar, mike alba etc. work very hard to be very good at their craft. to play music and be a good example to other drummers, and by not posting or hanging out in this forums makes them not an ideal one?  just my humble opinion, peace :-D
