Ang pagkakaalam ko kasi when he was playing his Signature RK Strat after the Sau Paolo gig, dumating yung point na parang he was not inspired with the sound that he was getting from his playing with the pick. Dun na rin siguro nadetermine yung preference nya for the RK tele as his main axe. Kaya nung nagtry na siyang magfingerpick parang naging a whole new world for him (parang mga usual chords lang na we play, tapos pag sawa ka na, put a capo at something fresh na yung sound nya). Still there are some songs from his old albums like Remember na I think sounds better with the Strat rather than the Tele (napanood ko yung mga videos nya using either one). Although to be honest kahit I prefer Strats, whenever I play a Tele, iba talaga rin ang ganda ng sound ng Tele (hindi ko lang maget over yung cool looks ng Strat over a Tele, pero sana dumating din ako doon).

Still one of the great players who smokes whether on pick or the fingerstyle method. Pero if there's one thing that makes him the best player for me is kaya nyang may vocal performance kahit nagsosolo na sa guitar. i don't know how he can do that. And that he is also a great rhythm player. Kahit minsan gusto ko na magquit sa guitar, he inspires me to play more pag naririnig ko syang tumugtog.

I'm No Angel and Desire of the Winery Dogs, grabe. Pero yung live ng Regret, astig for me, kasi he plays on the piano with some cool blues shredding on the solo guitar (if there's such a term) plus it's a classy song. Galing ng bandmates din nya. Ginagawa na yata yung second album for next year, but until then maglalabas yata si RK ng compilation ng songs nya of old para dun  sa mga young listeners na ngayon lang siya nakikilala because of the Winery Dogs. Truly a Supergroup, pero I still want more of the 80's 90's rock sound and blues sa second album kasi medyo classic rock pa yung unang album.

WD is awesome. I still listen to their album every now and then. Im sure they would have done much better if they released this in the 90s. Its just too dated now. :(

This is probably why I liked them. They sound 90-ish :)

while i see your point, its also good to see artist sticking to what they like to do, rather than forcing their creativity...

all i can say is.... AWESOME!!! :-o :)

i play guitar but i'm a very big fan of Billy Sheehan! The best bassist for me... period!!! i still remember the time when i was listening to Sheehan and Kotzen during their Shrapnel Record days.

Portnoy is awesone either. I watched him with Sheehan, Derek Sherinian and Tony Macalpine at their gig at SM Skydome several years back. i forgot what their group was called unfortunately...

i'll be watching this group...

I always wondered where they got the name. Here it is:
I took the liberty of highlighting what i thought was interesting
Quote
RK: You see winery dogs used to guard vineyards to keep like pests away from destroying the grapes and the mines.  To me the name reminds me of one of those old bands from the late sixties and early seventies and I think our influence kind of pulls from that era but also because winery dogs are guarding vineyards we can kind of make a parallel to what we’re doing, I don’t think we’re guarding anything but I think we’re definitely calling attention to a preserving the old preserving the old format of making records where it’s really just three guys playing their instruments.  All the sounds you hear on the record are made by either the guitar bass drums or when I play piano, organ.  So, all the instrumentation is real, the performances are real, they’re not altered electronically. And so in that regard it also ties in with the name.
