Nagreresearch ako ng pwedeng gamiting recording laptop:  Most of the time I am discouraged by the price ng recommended models ng mga websites nila. Though nilagay naman nila yung mga specifications required by the program hindi ko talaga siya masyadong ma gets because hind ganoon ka extensive yung alam ko tungkol sa hardware ng mga laptops/PCs so I am trying to get assistance from people na may alam na; at nagagamit nila ng maayos yung mga laptops nila for recording guitars, vocs, bass, mixing tracks, and mastering. Eventually kasi, gusto kong gamitin yung skill na to so that our band can record independently:

1. Currently gusto ko sana either Sonar X2 or Pro tools 11 compatible
2. meron na kong M-Audio Mobilepre MK2. (na so far compatible naman dun sa mga DAW of choices ko base sa websites nila).
3. Hindi ko trip mag MAC. Mas preferred ko windows based na laptop for flexibility plus mas sanay ako sa windows kaysa sa IOS systems.
4. Currently I am looking into ASUS k55vj-sx074h kasi hanggang dito lang budget ko (max): pero hindi ko alam kung saan ako magkakaproblema dito in terms of hardware compatibility kasi hindi ko magets yung hardware information na offered ng mga websites eto yung complete specs nya (core I7  7200 rpm yung HDD)

http://www.asus.com/ph/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/K55VJ/#specifications

5. Eto naman yung specifications ng suggested ng protools 11: Dell M6700, which hindi ko kaya to in terms of budget:

http://www.dell.com/ph/business/p/precision-m6700/pd

5. So far nasubukan ko nang mag run ng Sonar X2 project file (without vst plugins) sa laptop na to through my friend and so far it works well with 1% CPU usage.

Kung mag-record kayo one track at a time, an i5 with 4GB of RAM will do the job.

Kung gagamit kyo ng maraming plugins, get an i7

A 35 to 40k budget is enough.

Cheers!!!

Sir, I dont have the luxury of buying a studio monitors as those are really expensive. I am not into "serious" recording if you understand what I mean by that. I currently have a M-Audio Fast Track as my interface and I do have a Samson C01 Condenser Microphone. My question is what do you recommend headphones that I can use to monitor my recording? Probably that costs around 2k?

Any suggestion/s?

When Roland reps came here a few years ago demoing Sonar X1, they were running it on an i5 with several tracks (the entire screen was full of tracks) aside from running vst synths and plugs. That i5 will be more than sufficient for X2.

As for Protools, if its native, it SHOULD run on the i5. That said, PT is very picky about hardware, among other things, the cpu AND video card.

I'm curious about 'kaaway ay kayabangan' though. Most of the really experienced people here started from real austere gear - I'm not ashamed that I started out with a soundblaster.

Hello guys, patulong naman.  TIA

I'm using a headphone mic. Overdub is on, Software Playthrough is off. Input: Realtek HD Audio: Mic Volume

Para bang bumabalik-balik lang yung track.

Thanks in advance!  :)

@Greenfire - it appears that "What you hear" is the default; it should be set to line in.

@Yohmii - try to roll off the lows in your voice a bit to get more clarity.

I suggest using Ardour for multitrack recording. It's free and modeled after ProTools.

The previous poster said that this was overkill. Well... it depends.

Are you building a killer sampling machine with loads of softsynths and hundreds of tracks plus lots of vst plugins? If so, then yes this will do. Having designed some mean workstations for some good friends, I can say that I've actually seen them bring those fully loaded machines to their knees. But if your needs are much much lighter, you can do with an i5. Of course, an i7 will give you plugs galore!

The thing here is to choose a motherboard that you can easily upgrade the processor and ram; and don't go cheap with it! Ivy bridge and sandy bridge are both mature technologies; haswell is too new yet to even consider, but some advanced DAW builders are paving the way with those. Given a choice, I would go for the Sandy bridge-E cpu and maybe a gigabyte mobo.

coy_2cute was right about the interface, though. But be aware that there are a few pcie interfaces (RME), and don't go consumer with soundblaster or Xonar cards. Most interfaces are usb and the better ones are usb 2.0; firewire is on its way out unfortunately. At least make sure that your mobo of choice has a legacy pci slot if you get one of those interfaces. Otherwise, make sure you will have usb 3.0 and thunderbird available for future expansion.

Hi Guys.

Sorry andame kong tanong.

Try Reaper.  It's a multitrack DAW.  www.reaper.fm/download  What mic are you using?  Watch your gain settings.

HUWAG KA MAG CDRKING!!! Consider M-Audio, Line6.  Sale ang JB ngayon.  Check mo M-audio Fast Track nila.
