Question about tubes. I have a 2pcs 6l6 for my power. I had a very great deal a couple of days ago. Complete set of tubes for my mesa. 8pcs for p2500!! But, I rejected because he's selling 2pcs of kt88. Designed specifically to replace 6l6 on a mesa. The guy was a legit seller. I just didnt want to take the risk because of biasing and everything. Especially biasing because DC series have a fixed bias. What's your comments?

online deals man.. like dealing with bossingboss, masterchoxter,jefisipbata..etc. or if someone sells there mesa's here, ebay nor amazon will do also(much more risky).. lastly, if you have some relatives working/living outside the country which have access on a music shop selling a mesa

Mismo bro.
Andaming controls.

Kaya ba ng DC/F series Boogies yung ultra high gain metal chug (e.g. Lamb of God, Parkway Drive, etc)? :-)
Contemplating on buying a 2nd hand Boogie or a Blackstar HT20.

you can actually.. boost it with a tube screamer pedal :D
Yup. That's what I plan to do. :-)
I've seen the BS HT5 boosted with a Maxon OD do metal, but its price range is close to that of 2nd hand Boogies so I'm thinking of going that route.

If using just an amp, you hardly can. Boost is recommended. But I have a mahogany guitar with super distortion pickups and its output works well with the amp.

Buhayin!
I went to JB last thursday to test the 4x12 Recto Cab Slant. Ang ginamit kong amp is yung Transatlantic 30. Nagulat ako sa tone! Hanep din pala yung Transatlantic. Yung Clean channel crystal clear and yung Lead channel kargado ng gain talaga.
Added gulat din yung ginamit kong guitar. A China-made Charvel. Pero ang ganda ng feel. Pulido yung finish di tulad nung ibang china made guitars. Naka EMG ito. Ganda!
Will get the 4x12 cab on tuesday :-D

Sir san ka po nakapagtry? Yan din kasi gusto ko simple lang although i know medyo pricey pa rin siya. Magkano kaya ang sale price?
Sa JB Music Megamall. Good people there. Hanapin niyo lang si Elmer. Nasa 20% less ata yung Transatlantic 30. I know medyo pricey pa pero considering taxes etc. and the hassle of waiting sa pagoorderan mo, magandang deal na ito from JB. May warranty pa at ang maganda dito 220v na. Pag umorder ka on your own baka 110v pa makuha mo. Hassle din minsan.
Hi sir Rey! :) Sabi sa akin sa JB Megamall di kasama Mesa Boogie sa sale. Any idea how much the 1x12 Mini Rectifier can is?
Hi Bri! Nasa 20% (25% pa nga ata ang sabi sa akin) OFF yung Mesa boogies. Not sure kung magkano yung Mini Recto Cab nila. Ayaw mo mag 2x12 na lang? Para mas chuggy? :-D

Hi guys!
I like my guitar tone here! Using my Ibanez RGD7421 with Crunch Lab 7 and Liquifire7 pickups. Going through my Wampler Triple Wreck and Mesa Boogie F-30 amplifier. Solo may volume boost ng MXR Zakk Wylde OD at may delay from TCE Nova Repeater.
Also proof that you don't need a 4x12 cabinet and higher wattage amps at big gigs since naka-mic naman. Really happy that I have the F-30 kahit 30 watts lang siya. But despite that, gusto ko pa rin magkaroon ng 4x12 at Mark IV or Roadster! LOL

Hindi autovolt power transformer ng boogie. You will need transformer or AVR. Mga at least 500w to be safe.
Tawag dun export transformer.

Saan mo ba nakuha yang Mesa Boogie amp mo?

Hi sir! Yup Triple Wreck po yan.. Oo gusto ko nga ho ng mark iv e! Kaht combo lang muna... Pgtpos sguro mg kasal hehehe!
Ito naman ho with my 6 stringer. Same gig :)
ITO TALAGA ANG DAPAT PAGHANDAAN! Congrats in advance Bri!
Ah Triple Wreck yun. I see. Ayaw mo yung drive channel nung amp mo?
Another option for setup is AxeFx/Eleven Rack plus a loud powered monitor. Mas matipid ng konti over the real thing hehehe.
Kasi nga naka in ear sila so napakasimple ng setup. Malinis pa. Meshuggah ganun ang setup.

Hey guys, was thinking of my own Boogie amp, but unfortunately, I really can't handle the weight and the dangers of lugging it around during gigs and rehearsals. Who loves to climb stairs lugging an 85lb amp anyway?? Never even dared to bring my old Classic30 to gigs back then. I don't have a PA and my only hope was to make use of my small amp and board.
I just got myself a Mesa Boogie V-Twin Preamp pedal (again). But this time, I'M REALLY FLOORED. I mean... WOW. This thing is such a beast! I'm taking back all the stuff I said in the past. I used to have this pedal and sold it a few weeks after I got it because I though it was too muddy, dark and fuzzy. I was absolutely wrong and obviously the culprit in my first experience with it was.. nothing and nobody other than ME! I didn't know how to use it and just treated it like a normal distortion pedal (where in you plug it in front of an amp and expect it to rock out by itself).
Luckily now I got to try it with my own amp with an effects loop, which is a blessing by the way (thank you Lord for my ZT Club). This thing is WAY LOUD and has GOBS OF GAIN on tap (think Recto / Mark modern high gain). My volume is just at 1-2 for home practice and my gain is just up to 12 o'clock. I'll try to post soundclips recorded via USB with this so you guys can hear it. The EQ is also powerful enough to shape your clean / OD / dist to your preference. This thing is like a real amp to say the least.
Anyway, I'm still keeping my SansAmps for recording purposes, but this one gets the prime real estate on my board. Gotta love the Lord for giving us blessings like this! \m/

If 3 na parang pyramid layout. Version B yun.

Ganda niyang head mo sir classic Mesa look!

@Mariachi: Nice! Your amp looks really clean and and neat!
The tubes on my Mark IV are not the original Mesa tubes anymore, the original owner replaced it with Ruby 6L6GC. Tubes have some life left, so I won't replace it for now.
@Jem-Jr: That makes mine a B as well.

Hey guys, I have a problem with my Mark IV, hope you guys can help:
Whenever I start the amp, my lead channel is fine, but after a couple of minutes playing, the volume and the gain drops. I leave it alone for a couple of minutes, then the volume and gain goes back to normal, then goes down again after a couple of minutes. This happens to when I switch to Lead channel from Rhy1 or Rhy2 channel.
I don't have a problem with my Rhy1 and Rhy2 channels.
Is this a tube problem? I googled, and read that I should swap my V3 & V4 tubes. I did that already, but am still experiencing the same problem.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

When i played through a dual rectifier before, vintage mode was best for me. Tamang high gain metal! Did you try that on the DR you tested?
So i couldn't agree wth you na may mali (well at least sa settings na ginamit ko nun). It was a great amp. Id choose it over the Diezel i tried overall with price to value to sound ratio. Just my opinion. But syempre taste yan so the Rectifier gain may not be for you.
If I could use my budgets for a Mesa, I would get a Roadster head.

yung "parang mali" sa rectifier heads is yung fuzzy mush when you dial too much gain with too much mids. masyado hairy tunog. i tried the modern setting sa triple and dual recs, mas madali i dial yung fuzzy na matabang tunog sa tight na tunog. although i managed to get a tight sound pero after much much tweaking time.
i like them though. but i like the dual than the triple. mas tight tunog ng dual. the triple has the BIG/HUGE/GIGANTIC sound that i find hard to tame.
now that mini is a great amp.

Always try to start at 12 o'clock sa lahat ng knobs when trying out Mesa Amps.

di ba may diode switches din sa recto heads that affect the gain structure?

In my experience, a good selection of preamp vacuum tubes will help tame the fizz and flubbiness of the Recto. I suggest Tung-sol in V1, V2 and v3 and the rest JJs. The tung-sols will bring out the singing mids not the hairy mids. It will complement the Celestion V30 speakers. EQ-ing is also crucial as the tone controls are not the typical controls you have in other amps. They are very interactive. Out of the TMB controls, the treble control is the dominant. Bringing out the treble will make the other two contribute less. In my setup, setting the treble at 11 o clock, mids at 11 o clock, bass at 10 o clock and presence at 2 0 clock will make it more british-ish. Your pickups also will play an important role in tone shaping.

Naka-try ako ng Mark V combo sa JB Megamall the other day, at sa bait ng staff nila, pinahiram din nila yung display model nila na Ernie Ball Music Man JP6
Luckily I had a copy of Petrucci's ch. 3 settings on my phone, which i tried to dial in.
although I'm used to boosting dirty signals with a tubescreamer, the Mk V didn't need any at all, especially with the guitar I was using (I was previously able to try the JP6 out, paired to a relatively medium-gain voiced amp, the Laney CUB12 head+cab the store also had available, and it easily pushed the amp to hard rock/shred-able levels of dirt!). Grabe, kung may ganun lang akong pera T_T
Next time I'll try to bring along my MI Audio Tube Zone and see if I could get the pedal's overall vibe close to the Mark V's ch. 3 response through A/B'ing with ch. 1 :-)

Last saturday lang sa guitar center. Pinag tatalunan nga sa gearpage ung amp kasi sale. I saw the amp even before somebody mentioned it in gearpage. Thanks to the wife.
She also asked me to get matching cab. I've tried the standard version, pero parang mas gusto ko tunog ng RA-100 in tradional cab, which has similar specs as my Rivera K412t. I'll think about it though.
I mean yes there is a difference starting from the Celestion V30 that mesa uses vs. Typical Celestion V30 pag isipan ko. I need to hear the difference. Although my wife likes the look of matching cab

Mahirap talaga sanayin ang Multis plus powered speakers setup kung matagal ka nang sanay sa AMP IN THE ROOM setup.
But then again, yung mga naririnig natin at kinokopya na mga guitar sounds ay mix and mastered na. Mas madaling makuha yun through Multis kasi you are your own sound engineer. Sa analog, kahit anong timpla mo sa bahay, mababago yan kasi may technician pag dadaanan yung signal mo sa gigs. Kung magaling yung tech suwerte mo. Pag [chewbacca], you'll end up sounding "Tunog Ipis" sa labas
Thanks to the AxeFx feature na TONE MATCH. What I did was I recorded my Mark V patches and loaded/tone matched it sa AxeFx and voila!!!! My Analog sounds in a box that I can take and fly anywhere without the hassle of bringing my tube amps.

For 10 years I've had my fair share of "pinakikisamahan ang mga technicians" sa mga bars and gigs na tinututugan namin. And I guess fed up na ako sa bagay na hindi nasusunod ang gusto kong guitar tone sa labas. I mean what's the point of having a great tone sa stage kung pagdating sa labas basura at tunog ipis ang tone mo? AxeFx is my total solution. Will I still gig with my Mark V? YES!

I feel you sir Rey.

And tama ka most of the time kahit may tech ka nagmamarunong pa din yung in house tech so walang kuwenta magdala ng sariling tech.

Nice! Matching cab for t :mrgreen:he win! Pero wala yatang 4x12 cab for the RA-100 right? 2x12 lang.
Oo nasubukan ko na ang RA-100 sa standard recifier cab 4x12, and i thought it was a little boomy. I tested this amp for 2 hours . But my Rivera k412t is pretty much the equivalent of mesa boggiei's tradional rectifier cab. And i think Ra-100 sounds so much better with tradional type cabs.
However i do know that mesa's Celestion Vintage30 is different from the made in china version seen in almost all cabs with Vintage30. In fact I believe only mesa is able to negotiate with celestion to keep their Vintage30 made in uk.
In the end i still want to hear a traditional rectifier cab bec of the speaker difference.

Looking for some user settings of RA-100, and found Mark Morton of Lamb of God switches from MarkIV to RA-100! I just realized that my two amps are from 2 influential bands from this New Wave of American Heavy Metal early 2000s. Jon Donais of Shadows Fall with Rivera Ktre...Di sadya yan
Kumusta Mark V sa four cable method with the AxeFx? May tone/volume loss?

After all my research on what mesa amp I'll get, I finally decided to get an Electradyne. Cant wait for it to arrive here in the south.. mga pap's what stepdown transformer na fit sa 45/90 watss Mesa Boggie? may display na panther 300watss and 500 watts sa mga hardware shop. Planning to settle down sa 300 but just to be sure 500 nalang yung kukunin ko. but any sound suggestion is very much welcome. Thanks

90 watts is the output wattage. Check the back of the amp for the input wattage, then use that as the basis for the transformer you'll get. Multiply the input wattage by two then get a transformer that's near that value.
FYI, my 50-watt amp head has an input wattage of up to 360 watts. I bought a 1000W AVR with servo motor for it.

for a few days until now I have been gassing for a mesa mark v 25. Been searching the net and also contacted mesa boogie for me to get an option for a 220v input for this.
Of course best bet is JB music since they are the distributor here in the Philippines. Kung wala sila or mahal, the next best is find an Asian or European online store. Pero sobrang mahal ng SRP nila. As in doble pa sa US SRP. halos pareho lang rin sa patong ang JB music. Meron na akong contact na US online store pero hindi sila certified to sell export models for this.

I ordered an Express Plus 5:25 from the US few months ago. Pina-convert ko lang to 220V kay Mang Raul. I ordered the amp from Sweetwater. :-D
Oh yeah Mang Raul! how much did it cost you? Home service?
Question: Do you gig with your 25 watter? Kaya naman?

Hey bro! Hindi ko maalala kung magkano yung binayaran ko for the conversion. Around 3.5k yata. Yes, home service. :-D
I rarely do gigs. Mga twice a year lang. Hahahaha!

^^ In general, yes, it is kind of like putting an EQ behind a preamp. But Mesa boogie uses these frequencies in their EQ 80Hz, 240Hz, 750Hz, 2.2Khz and 6.6Khz

Yup. Hehehe...
I think nire-rewind ni Mang Raul yung transformer.

Knowing him being impatient, ayaw niyang maghintay kahit brand new pa ung bibilhin.
Hindi ako nag dalawang isip kumuha ulit It's just soooo good

BTW, Ive found out a couple of weeks ago that my Mesa DC5 is not producing any sound. Was able to contact mang Raul just to check if he's still in the business. Was suppose to wait for the mini Mark to arrive before I acquire Mang Raul's service. Iniisip ko asi convert to 220 ung mini Mark. Pero may lumabas na tunog using the mini Mark, so ung preamp may problem.
Just some quick questions before I hire Mang Raul, 1) May tunog parin bang lalabas kahit isang tubo lang ang problem? May naririnig kasi akong "space" or "hollow" or "reverb" type sound coming from my broken amp. Yun lang. 2) Kung tubo may problema, pano ko malalaman? 3) It is wise to have the mini Mark converted to 220v? I know mag iiba tunog.

Pao, if the Mesa DC5 powers up pero no sound, check mo yung fuse.. Happened with my tube amp before. :)

That's the Slo-blow fuse sa power section. Frotection from power fluctuations. It does not look busted, and it shouldn't be, since nagpopower on pa yung amp. :)
Baka may iba pang fuse somewhere? Yung more on the output side, not the power side.. Pero I'm no amp tech, I'm not even sure if the DC-5 has another fuse for the output section. Hahaha.
May instances lang kasi ganun. Bigla nalang walang tunog kahit may power. Sometimes it's the tubes, pero minsan yung fuse sa output section.

From my experience, hindi nga nagbago ang tunog.

I met the man himself Randall Smith in his tone workshop last saturday here in Texas. He is a visionary, guy never runs out of ideas. Hedid talked anout his humble beginnings and how he achieved the american dream. Too bad he did not talked much about Metallica, only as bunch of kids he yelled at his shop because one of them were eating ice cream close to one of the expensive guitars.
He talked about Keith Richards, Ron Wood, Santana, etc being nice people considering how big they are.
It is also interesting to hear how he does not give a [strawberry] to tone cork sniffers who cant really play because "they are frustrated musicians"

Kidding aside...the best tone that i got from the mini rec was plugging in a Mesa Boogie Flux Five EQ in the effects loop and then using it as an attenuator so can crank up the gain and the volume at bedroom levels. Sobrang lakas nung amp kahit 10W mode.
At dahil yung EQ section ng Mark Series ay nasa Flux Five, the mini rec now sounds tighter. I guess it's now a Mini Rec Mark amp. haha
Btw....the Filmore series sounds killer!

100 Volts. I think sa Japan ito galing. The original owner included a 110 and 100 Volts Transformer. Custom made cabinet yung gamit ko. 2x12 with Eminence Governor (75W) and Screaming Eagle (50W). Magkaiba ung EQ nung speaker (Governor - more mids, Screaming Eagle - scooped mids) so i'm getting a very neutral/flat response.
