not new, just newly finished. wood hoop on my main snare

i made 2 pairs of these wood hoops 2 years ago. there were a lot of f**k ups while making them that made me think thrice about ever selling them. sayang di ko na makita yung 3 pa nito.

i initially made them with 50 plies of maple, this one has 2 outer and 2 inner plies of cherry. na out of round lang dahil sa ply separation at di na magkasya yung head. kaya tinabasan ko pa yung loob ng 5 plies

sablay talaga

no plans of making them again or for anyone besides for my personal use, no plans of selling either. gagawa lang siguro ko ulit kung sobrang tinopak ako

wood hoop vs metal hoop

wood hoops remove the metallic resonating ring on your snare. it doesnt focus/tighten the sound like what diecast hoops does. i get killer side stick sounds. rim shots are also fuller and no longer hurts my ears. adds a perceptive "warmth" to your snare, you can hear a lower timbre.

this hoop will stay on my snare until it dies on me

Actually... medyo nahalata ko yung difference after kinabit ko yung puresounds. Tumaas din yung sensitivity niya. Pero not naman to the point na nakakairita...

man i love that snare's sound. i'm not into getting really expensive signature snares just for the sake of having a cool snare (like some people here). nasa top 3 ko yung snare na yan considering the sound alone. plus looks pa pamatay na. :)
