Ezine Spammers - Something has to be done
« on: December 04, 2010, 06:22:48 AM »
andami na nila eh...di na nakakatuwa...   :x

i happen to rewrite ezine-type articles as a raket (yes, i understand i am biting the hand that feeds me in a way) and i know how these spam machines make their money...they stuff up a 300 to 500 word article with keywords then post the article on numerous bulletin boards, or create soulless blogsites, all with one thing in mind...search engine spamming.

di ba pwedeng i-IP ban yung mga spammers na yan?  the latest spam attack is seemingly geared towards athletic shoes, particularly nike...

Clicking the 'report to moderator' button... Does it help reduce spambots/spam threads?  I think I'm over-eager at times, but they're definitely all over the place.

We do our own checks and remove most of them, but some do get through. Notify the moderators or even me if you do see one.

hmmmm...sa bagay.  they may be doing their dirty work in a net cafe (that is, kung taga-pilipinas sila) and there may be other philmusic users who frequent that cafe na madadamay kung ma-IP ban.

i guess we'll just have to grin and bear it when it comes to the keyword/ezine spam.  sana lang madelete kaagad para hindi sayang sa bandwidth...

Just be vigilant bro.  Help natin yung mga mods by clicking the 'report to moderator' button whenever spam gets through.  :-)  And also to ignore them by not replying to those threads, kung matitiis!  :-D

We do remove them but these spammers are getting more devious everyday.

And apart from the spammers/scammers, there are astroturfers. They are bordering to being spammers. Posting for their "favorite band" in multiple sub-forums.

These are harder to detect but just let us know and we'll merge all their 'extraneous' posts.

Yes.

@ARTificial - we are on top of most of these on a daily basis, but a few do get through. If you see one that has been up for more than a few days, then let us know here.

and to think i might be feeding these jerks with ezine/blog-type articles through my raket...   :-(

then again, i don't think so.  sobra namang keyword spam yung sa kanila...and i rewrite "wholesome" articles (no sarcasm or irony here) for a target audience of americans 40 and above, baby boomers included...

up ko ulit dahil dumadami na naman ang mga spambot sa PM.  i'd say a good percentage (maybe 25%) of the new posts i'm seeing are from spambots.   :-(

My alterego has beaten me to it. Which is good since I'm unable to go online much for now. Just keep on reporting these and we'll get on it asap.

I get about 70 emails from report abuses and spams everyday. Sometimes, 3 or 4 users report the same spam. This is so tedious so bear with us.

It would help us greatly if no one posts after a spam post. It can get very difficult for us to find these particular posts since they easily get hidden in the woodwork. If you spy one that the mods probably have missed, just PM the link to us or post it here. We normally act on these asap but we're only human... we do have sleeping hours.
