All of the above.

But I tip my hat off to Prince. Multi-talented multi-instrumentalist, and a highly underrated guitarist. He plays so dirty its funky! And it fits his music so well! I flip over his solos, raw and edgy.

big prince fan here as well...i love how his early stuff is so stark and dry minimalist drum machine grooves but when the band comes in the funk will snap your spine in half

i also worship at the altar of bootsy, the meters, groove holmes....my mom had a box of old 45s na puro unknown funk singles...

I'm admirer of Prince as a guitarist too! I remember seeing him play on "Saturday Night Live" as a musical guest some time last year. Mind blowing (for me anyway) ang solo niya.  :-D

Pero I guess my "funk daddy" will have to be George Clinton. Trip ko talaga ang mga grooves ng P-Funk especially when they had Bootsy on board.

Prince....his song "Kiss" is probably the funkiest song of the 80's! Napanuod ko yung sa performance nung song na "Fury" sa SNL...grabe....ala Jimi Hendrix injected with so much funk!!

James Brown and George Clinton are my grand daddies of funk...also Sly Stone!  :-D :-D
