Pagandahin aesthetically?

Re-chrome! But that would probably be very expensive. Powder coating, pwede rin.

Sir someone told me na if i have my steel snare powder coated, magbabago daw tunog. is this true? kaya takot ako patanggal chrome nya and powder coated eh.

Thanks!

I forgot to take pictures of the kit when I got it, second hand na from a forumer here, as in madumi na talaga yung kit, medyo rusty na rin ibang hoops but most especially the tension rods, after konting pasensya at a lot of cleaning, polishing and buffing...

IDEA: Custom Bass Drum Reso head
« Reply #145 on: June 07, 2012, 11:49:03 AM »
IDEA: Custom Bass Drum Reso head
simple project to custom your drums

MATERIAL NEEDED: Personalized tarp

HOW: simply unscrew and place the tarp over your bass reso and tighten it. cut excess tarp around the rim.
tune it to your desired, manageable sound you may desire.

CONS: your sound will become boxy. many may not like the sound

USE: for those performances with mike-ins cut a port hole then mic it. just mix the bass sound using mixer to compensate for the boxy sound.

PROJECT: Super Bass 22 X 36 inch long bass drums
« Reply #146 on: June 07, 2012, 01:30:30 PM »
PROJECT: Super Bass
22 X 36 inch long bass drums

NEED: 2 bass drums

How i did it:

-removed all shell hardware and suka cleaned it to shiny new

-removed vinyl cover of both drum bass shells

-Took it to a wood shop

They connected both shells using small strips of woods glued and nailed. the edge of each shell was cut off before being connected to have a space-less connecting fit.

they charged Php 300

PROBLEM:
tho both are both 22" bass drums shells, they are still not identical because they are 2 different brands.

one shell is slightly protruding out on some area. Stripping off the covering reveals how lousy a generic shell's workmanship has. the bass is not perfectly circular at it seems.

SOLUTION:

bought this wood repair pudding and sand paper (yung magaspang) from a hardware
Sand paper - Php 60 (3pcs sand papers)
Pudding - Php 160 (1  can)

DIY shell repair
pudding for the wood. apply generously

let the pudding sip through spaces

use a hard straight material like a credit card to flatten the pudding and to push it well into spaces. this allows it to hold on firmly on the wood and to help you not to accumulate ore debt :)

what it will normally look like

-Let the pudding dry for 1 hour

after an hour of drying, sand paper it using the rough grade to make faster result.
sand it down until you get a straight plane. apply more pudding on uneven areas and sand paper it until its uniformed.

patching unneeded holes. i put a tape underneath the holes and applied pudding to hold the material temporarily and letting the pudding dry before sanding it down to

after sanding. no more holes!

-After pudding and sanding treatment

put more pudding then sand it down until you get a uniformed plane

TO BE CONTINUED . . . . .

sir how did you deal with the tension rods? Mahirap maglinis ng tension lugs na may kalawang. snare and tom tension rods to be specific. Kaya bumili nlng ako ng bago..... :P
