Thanks.. I do like the cleaner, meaner look of the vented metal panel.

Kyle uses JJ all around with his amps.

Awesome! Just watch the demo of Rhodes Colossus and it sounds brutal

How the Diezel working out for you? I tried them out the last time I went to GC, Channel 4 is really fun to play with.

The Diezel is a whole different kind of awesome.  I have not tried the VH4 but I still love my Herbert.

Anything from that guy is always brutal.  Same goes with Keith Merrow.

just wanted to share this.

i got inspired by this video, i decided to do something similar.  it may inspire you too.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mg5A5xEoxRM

after selling my marshall 8020 a few years back, i missed having a decent sounding practice and small venue setup (read: pang jamming sa office). so now i have something more portable, better sounding, and relatively cheap too.

this is an orange micro crush that i've modded with a switchable cab output.  it's now connected to an orange ppc108 cab.

impressions:
- with the ppc108 cab, its a lot louder than the built in speaker (as expected), with really good bass weight and punch (sealed cabinet), and more grit because i can now crank the volume higher

other benefits:
- modular. the micro crush can still operate independently. and if a bigger cab happens to be present
- portable, and can still be battery operated

yes, big sound can come from small packages  :-D  i no longer miss the 8020.

Nice! Congrats!

I would really appreciate any feedback you could give regarding using and matching different output tube variants in one go with regards to overall tone.  :)

Nice! Congrats!

I would really appreciate any feedback you could give regarding using and matching different output tube variants in one go with regards to overall tone.  :)

i havent tried doing that with the bugera 1960 non infinium models and infinium model, the amp is already sweet sounding as it is, great sounding midrange similar to the 1959SLP but if you see those jumper settings and add that, you can add in the bass and highs to the tone. the lovely piece of the tone is slight compression added to you sound and it makes the notes pop/snap as you hit them. this thing has 4xEL34 and 3x12ax7s, the only change ill do is to change the V1 tube to one of my baldwin/raytheon 12ax7a

my experience with my 1990 amp is different, yes i was able to use EL34 vs 6L6 but because it was a non infinium model my local tech advise i use either of the two but i was able to try em out before i finally took it home (i didnt know how to bias before). the preamp was v1 = 12ax7a raytheon v2 and v3 = 12ax7B(shugauangs)  (for more bass). with the EL34's the clean tone was too mid focused, if you replaced v3 with the stock 12ax7c it would be driving the cleans a bit which i didnt like, the lead channel was really close to a marshall tone, throaty not bassy enough. With the 6L6's the cleans were exactly i wanted with the preamp config i liked, it was biased to how it needs to be and the lead channel was balanced and full sounding, the hair metal tone i liked

the 333xl took more time for me to dial-in and i guess it was my fault that i tried to copy the settings of the 1990 into this amp, because stock mid rangey like a peavey, also it is an infinium model so i did all the changes myself without requring a tech to bias which is nice. my mistake was i replaced the 3 preamp tubes without even doing a process of elimination and did it only output tubes and was so sold with using a sovtek 12ax7LPS (recomended by a guy who owns high end amps) and didnt consider other variables. so i had the amp variants of kt77, 6L6, el34's and was having trouble getting all 3 channels exactly how i wanted, overall the issue was the tubes used in v3 and v4(the PI), with the sovtek in the PI..the amp was mid scooped tone and paired the Kt77 and 6L6 sounded great at low volumes and the clean tone was great however i knew it was not cutting through the mix and boost the volume noise level was off the charts..so decided to use EL34's for a cutting tone it was the same, tried another combination of El34's and 6L6's the lead channel was still scooped like poop. so finally decided to put all tubes in v2,v3 and v4 stock with the output tube config 2x EL34's outer and 2x6l6 inner, i liked it, so for shi.ts i just changed the v2 for the 12ax7b and finally got what i wanted, if i tried the KT77's again and it worked for the config. but im sticking with the EL34 and 6L6 output combo and not touching the preamp anymore. i've used the same cab for all my amps and i understand each one has a different tone stack but there's always ways to tailor the amps to get your own tone.

Next is the 6260 :D
