@lovecore -- theres pinoyfilm.com. the thing is, its hardly updated, and its hard to find good people to work with there.

theres also this other site... pinoyvideo.com -- i think. but its mostly for "videographers".

I made this one 2 years ago, 3rd year college pa ata ako.

Some may like it, some may not. Anyway, here's the link:

when i edit music videos, i cut to the music. the beats, the tempo, etc.

color grading is pretty easy too. aside from FCP, we use Apple Color or After Effects for that. i aint the best at color grading and usually have another guy do that (usually our cinematographer because thats his job), but i still watch a shiit load of tutorial videos online. theres a bunch of them on youtube.

DSLR. We use Canon 60d's, 7d's or a 5d. Although we like using the 60d more than the 5d. Check that one out, its pretty cheap. That, or a 600d or a 550d.

I like using the DSLRs more than a video camera nowadays. They're compact and you get to play wih the lenses. if we're using a video cam, we use the Panasonic HVX200 (P2) or the Sony EX3.

mga sirs at mam pano ba gawin yung ganitong klaseng editing?

split screen?

put the video clips on top of each other on the timeline, resize and move them.

Mukang magiging laggy yung editing process nyan sir.

split screen?

put the video clips on top of each other on the timeline, resize and move them.

kung gusto mo malaman ang in's and out's sa pagawa ng pelikula, kailangan mo ng imagination, diskarte at lakas ng loob. ako for technical stuff kinaibigan ko talaga yung mga gaffer, cameraman miski mga crew. sila kasi yung muscle behind the minds of the director, DOP etc. mas madami din akong projects na nakukuha dahil sabit ako kada may project sila na kailangan ako, not to mention nakukuha ko din yung services nila kapag may mga project din ako. be proactive and make an effort to learn each and every time.

*apir* pareho lang tayo ng specs. at least you got your head straight - you choose your software according to your hardware. ulead mediastudio pro 8 ma-re-recommenda ko (or adobe 6) --- basta lumang software din. oo mahina yung specs pero people have been editing video since the pentium III with good results - basta dont let your creativity be limited by your hardware/software, don't readily give in to consumerism (unless you're filthy rich or you have the means). picture-in-picture kind of effect hanap mo... pagpawisan mo ng konti, try out the effects of your nle - hanapin mo, do your homework. good luck!

parang ganitong effect hanap mo diba...

other tips... download ka ffdshow chaka huffyuv na codec --- so far pinakamabilis na codec sa pag-render na nasubukan ko.
kung youtube video, dont go over 2200 kbps total bitrate, ideal compromise between quality and download speed ito (for me).

its okay to start as a PA, but i wouldn't really recommend going in, and telling everybody you want, and you're willing to be a P.A. --- because thats what you're going to get stuck with.

know exactly what you want to be going in. if you want to be a cinematographer, ask to be a grip or gaffer or a camera assistant. if you want to be a producer, go to the UPM's. if you want to be a Production Designer, get a job in the art dept.

if you want to be a director or a screenwriter... you will not learn it as a runner. i have never seen a PA spend time with a director to learn, because good directors don't have time to tutor PA's on a set.

i've honestly never started as a PA. never became one. with my first job, i applied as a writer -- because thats what i wanted to be and start out as. i was new and inexperienced, and my boss threw me in with the UPMs and producers and the writers, and i got a first hand experience at meetings where they would dissect scripts... thats where i learned how to write with money and time and practicality in mind. thats also where i learned to become a producer.

never sell yourself short, especially if you know you're very good at something. mayabang na kung mayabang, pakapalan na ng mukha... di uso ang pa-humble effect.

I agree. if you have an old computer use an old software. and ana alam ko old softwares for P4 will have a hard time processing 31fps vids galing sa SLR cams. yung akin inedit ko yung isang vid ko galing slr ng 31fps sa P4 using ulead. Nag cracrash xa madalas. Good thing after a month God blessed me with a laptop that would also supprot mercury tech :)

I agree with the secopnd point that let not technology hinder your creativity. of course there are limitations on what you can do with an old gear but remember that these are only tools to enhance your craft and its not the sole basis of your art :)

eto, presh na presh, bunga ng frustration at kabatuhan... isn't it annoying that windows explorer (xp) doesn't display the dimensions/duration of mp4 or mkv files?

eto PERSONAL solution ko...

GetVideoInfo.zip
http://sharesend.com/j3y3x

description: searches for videos (*.avi, *.mp4, *.m4v, *.mkv, *.mov) in the current folder & subfolders, extracts information (Folder, Video File Name, WIDTHxHEIGHT, duration in milliseconds), and creates a text file containing all extracted information.

oo corny lang ito and minimal yung info, pero when i'm converting over 200 files with ffmpeg in one go, this proves to be an indispensable tool.

pag ginanahan ako, share ko yung microsoft excel/ffmpeg video converter combo ko (naks!).

Due credit to MediaInfo - http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net

atin atin lang ito ah.  :-D

Question po sa mga sir. Im using Vegas po pala. Thanks in advance  :)

.mov or .mp4

-- i usually compress it down to 1280x720, which gives me around 200-300mb for a 3-5 minute file.

upload a screencap for exporting, not too familiar with Sony Vegas, but maybe i can help you out.

So mov, wmv, etc. Ito talaga kadalasan format/size gamit ko pero it gives me more or less 1 gig.

don't go 60p. stick to what you've shot it on (24p/30p)

Question po sa mga sir. Im using Vegas po pala. Thanks in advance  :)

sir kung vegas ang gamit mo.

pag render mo... save as type " Sony AVC (mp4, m2ts, avc) " tapos may template na dyan nakalagay sa baba pang internet pili ka na lang ng size and format..

or kung may adobe media encoder ka, may preset na dun for vimeo..

or gamit ka video converter may preset din dun for youtube and vimeo..

thank you sir sa info. i will try lahat yan  :-D

Question about grading. Medyo mahaba to  :-D
I tried na rin different things, of course maraming tutorial sa youtube and Im learning on my own, and this thread is very helpful for someone like me also.
Aside sa desaturating, ano pa pwede gawin? My problem kase is yes mukha na syang kulay film for me pero parang yung movement sa clips e parang live pa din, ewan kung pano ko mapaliwanag yun, maybe upload ko nalang yung sample and give a link.
I dont know kung sa pagrender ng Vegas yun o kelangan ko na din mag try ng iba. hehe.
And someone told me na may format daw sa Vegas na nagmumukang film pag render,is this true?

if anyone's interested with a batch processor with a built-in qf calculator <qf=bits/(pixels*fps)>, check this out...

good thread, now im wondering sinu pwede makapag advise sakin.

i want to make a short clip (wala pang theme or specific na title)

what i have :

d90 (18-105 vr kit and a 50mm 1.8 lens )
some tripods and monopods

Agfa eclipse explorer compact hd video recorder

Sony vegas 10 pro

Adobe PS CS6

Adobe Lightroom 3.2

what i can do :

i am a photographer
i know basic procedure sa vegas 10 pro
i know advance methods sa PS and lightroom
the rest i think di ko pa alam gawin kung anu man kulang pa

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Goal : make a film with that "cinematic" touch sa colors this goes out in general sa video quality and sound quality. Nothing fancy just need to get that cinematic look with out overspending.

Need to know : after shooting and all, how to process the video and make it lets say 720 - 1080p resolution thay can be played sa mga led tvs?

thanks in advance sa mag aadvice :)

i agree with sir niggah

- malaking tulong talaga ang ilaw (just like the principles of photography). also ung picture/color profile na gagamitin (no sure though kng meron sa d90, if meron then usually they set it to flat or standard para hindi altered un natural colors nya bago mo pa man import sa nle mo) specially pag mag ko-color correct or grade ka like the popular magic bullet suites.

- sa frame rate usually ang ginagamit is 24fps (23.97)

- then ang alam ko sa d90 is 720p un max resolution nya, so id say ung settings mo is 1280x720p and 24fps.

- sa exporting naman when viewing in large tv monitors, for me importante din ang compressor or codec na gagamitin for quality over file size and compatibility matter.

not sure if this is relevant. since final cut user ako I use quicktime uncompressed 8-10bit kaso its a huge file but its a lossless compression so full color talaga. meron din prores 422 and 444, na hi-quality and up to 2-3x less un file size compared to 10bit uncompressed and hindi naman ganun ka noticeable ang difference. and ung h.264 na ginagamit sa web like youtube, file-shared movies, na mas magaan but with visible lossy colors. so nasa sayo parin kung pano mo titimplahin to complement sa LED monitor mo. i am not sure though kung anong equivalent codecs and compressors sa sony vegas.

but imho, subject and composition pa rin ang best way to achieve such cinematic effect, the rest are enhancements.

again these are just my opinions based from experiences. hope may naitulong ako.. correct me nlng if may mali akong nasabi, tao lang po hehe

cheers for feers!
