To put an end to this "issue", let's look at Abyss' old post:
"But seriously, if the job of an engineer is to provide options and you have options to do the providing then, what is the problem? Have the guy pick an amp, a guitar, a chair, mic your amp, monitor, repeat tweaking if necessary. The way I see it, the problem should focus on the actual usage of the stuff you DO have access to instead of doing a rhetorical analysis of whether or not it is subjectively sound to say a tube amp is better than a ss digital amp. Got both? Use em. Don't got 'em? use what you got. Tubes aren't going anywhere and neither are digital amps because someone, somewhere is going to use them for some song in some record. In fact, I don't really think using one over the other makes a mountain of a difference if the result rocks, sells records and gets a happy client in the end."Just one question for you all experienced folks... How often do you use amp sims vs. amps to make a valid observation that amps sims are just as good/better/worse than amps? 90% amp, 10% POD? 80-20? 70-30? 60-40? 0-100?
I remember chuck_sabbath saying there are far more experienced people here than me. I am not that stupid not to know that. Pero kung may iidolohin rin lang ako, bakit hindi ko pa idolohin ang mga gumawa ng super recordings such as Brendan O Biren, Andy Wallace and JJ puig? If I had to consider my true heroes in recording, I would bet my ass off that majority of them use, and will surely prefer amps to amp sims in the studio. Don't believe me? Go to any recording forum and ask the old farts there and ask what gives the best results. For all I care, I have been open to the idea of amp sims way before Line 6 came into existence. Heck, I even used my Mesa Boogie DC2's line out (and killed the speaker out) to record guitar and it sounded like arse. Wala pa ang Line 6 sa Yupangco marami na akong nadownload na soundclips, and I am quite educated (and for you , biased) to say that there are
other ways to achieve better tones in a
serious recording project.
Chuck_sabbath even bothered to post some of my HC threads to prove his points, but he is very careful in sidelining the fact that more artists prefer the "real things" than emulations. And for everyone's benefit, here is the list of my threads...
http://acapella.harmony-central.com/search.php?searchid=1555627I remember alroyt saying "it is my lack of sleep that makes me hear those digital hisses in guitar softsynths like amplitube and guitar rig. Chuck_sabbath even bothered to post that HC thread in the FM thread. But why is he conveniently hiding the fact that 11 out of 14 persons answered YES to the poll question
"Am I hallucinating when I say I HEAR DIGITAL HISSING WITH GUITAR RIG HIGH GAIN SOUNDS" ? Kayo ba, hindi niyo naririnig? Kung hindi, good for you. Ignorance is bliss.

Regarding the ASH soul sig, that was more of my satiric response to the "XT Brotherhood" sig (in red text colors). Majority of these folks say the XT slays all amps...
