How to get a blues sound and a funky sound sa guitar??

Hehe, mejo noob pa po kasi ako sa guitar eh..
pano po ba makakuha ng blues-y sound sa strat.
pano din po ung pag funk sa strat?
ndi ko po talaga alam kung pano..  :oops:

Blues - practice your bends
Funk - practice your upstroke strums and muffling

All the rest is in the guitar setup...

Guitar setup bro....ask mo si poundcake idol....galing yan,,dami alam...sa kanya ako natuto sa mga tips nya esp. when it comes to setups

may set up ako...gamit ko TS7 (modded into bluesy feel) and Bad Monkey....with a Telecaster gamit ko neck pick up.....presto!! blues 101 na sir

hehehe

madami dito magagaling kaya dali tuto me hehehe :mrgreen:

please give us some references so we can have a starting point. lets say you want to sound funky, so lets refer to funky guitar players like, i dont know maybe FRuciante or nuno, for blues maybe you want to be BB king.

Hmmm...... I'm no expert, so I'll share my own experience na lang. When I want a bluesy tone on my strat, I use either the neck pickup or the neck and middle combo. You can play clean or add a little overdrive depending on your taste. Honestly, since I got my strat dual scalarized (crystal + organicore) last Friday, playing clean through my amp at home has become very satisfying kaya mag-iisang linggo ko nang hindi ginagalaw effects ko. It now has both the clarity and warmth I've been looking for. Thanks, BAMF! hehehe :-D

For funk rythm parts naman (ala-"chik-chik-chik-chik-chika"), I use the bridge pickup mostly.

Since you have a Strat, for starters:

Bluesy sound: neck pickup

Bluesy sound with balls: bridge pickup / all pickups (position 3?)

Funky sound: bridge pickup

I think position 3 only activates the middle pickup.... :-D

blues: get a strat. listen to stevie ray vaughan for 6 months. use position 1 or 2.

or

get a strat: listen to albert collins for 6 months. (or is that buddy guy?). use bridge pickup.

funk, no horns: get a strat. listen to blood sugar sex magic for 6 months. use position 1.

funk, with horns: get a strat. or a tele or a semi-hollowbody. listen to tower of power for six months.

for me, i'd get a wah pedal. none of that auto-wah/touch-wah stuff. mas matututo kang mag-express ng nota. (although a synth-wah/envelope filter for funk might be very useful).

pero kahit anu naman ata ng guitar pwede eh, its more on the "playing" itself...

siguro wag na lang mashado taasan yung gain sa settings mo sa amp / pedal

practice the pentatonic and blues scales and try doing some improvisations using those scales. Tapos try mo sabayan yung mga favorite blues songs mo.hehe
And if you like, pwede ka ding makining kna bb king (and other blues artists/bands) and try to "listen and feel" their music... bcoz blues is a "feel music" imho.  :-)
