and honing your photography skills? I shoot in jpeg dahil gusto ko tama na settings bago ipress ang shutter,
minor editing na lang like adjusting levels or brightness but sometimes almost perfect na exposure ko so wala ng editing.
Pwede mo try muna Av or Tv mode (aperture priority or shutter priority mode bago manual mode). Keep your ISO at 100-200 para walang noise,
if shooting in 400 and above dapat well lit ang subject mo dahil mas kita ang noise sa mga dark areas. If shooting in Av or Tv

Sa manual mode, heto cheat sheet to start with:

Your shutter speed must be the same with your ISO, so kung ISO100 - shutter speed is 100.

< -2 -- -1 -- 0 -- +1 -- +2 >

or something like that. I use both Canon and Nikon kaya di ko na alam kung alin. Anyway, kailangan pag naka manual mode ka, and assuming daylight scene, dapat yung pointer or arrow ay nakatapat sa 0. the higher you go, mas bright ang image, the lower mas madilim. That being said, kung ang scene mo ay puro puti (kunwari puro snowman), dapat nasa bright side yung meter mo na yan kundi magiging kulay grey yun. same pag gabi, yung mga madrama na nigh shots, syempre meter mo expect mo nasa negative side, or else washed out yung subject mo tapos kulay grey na yung dapat black.

Notes:

Shutter speed
Higher shutter speed - freeze motion, darker exposure
Lower shutter speed - motion blur, brighter exposure

Aperture
Higher f number - sharper background, darker exposure
Lower f number - more background blur, brighter exposure

ISO
Higher ISO - faster and brighter exposure, more prone to noise
Lower ISO - slower and darker exposure, less noise

spot on tips. it would be an advantage to try first priority setting/mode before going on full manual for you to get a grip on your camera settings on different light situations.

Your shutter speed must be the same with your ISO, so kung ISO100 - shutter speed is 100.

not in all conditions. the shutter speed should also be based on the focal length of your lens. your 1/x should be equal or at least exceed  the focal length of your lens specially if you're shooting handheld. if you're shooting with a telephoto lens, like a 70-200, a shutter speed of only 100 would increase the risk of camera shake or blurs.

for a beginner, I like telling them to keep the ISO static at 400, which is also the speed of the most widely available film speed. That way they can focus on shutter speed and aperture first. Even flash technique. And besides, back in the day you had to choose just one speed for 12 to 36 shots, and only change it the next time you need to feed another roll.

I never heard of the shutter speed = ISO thing before.

Thanks for pointing that out.
I was basing my answer on the fact that the threadstarter is new to photography,
I imagine his Nikon 3200 is equipped with the 18-55mm kit lens that comes with it, which is the perfect focal length in terms of handheld photography.
Shooting handheld with a 200mm will be a bit of a challenge, especially in low light conditions. Without a tripod, you have to increase
the ISO to match the minimum shutter speed to prevent camera shake (but higher ISO means higher noise, so you have to find what is acceptable to you) or shoot
wide open which in most cases can soften your image.

To crayzajhie, always bring your camera and shoot para mas magamay mo settings.

To crayzajhie, always bring your camera and shoot para mas magamay mo settings.
