Babaw as it sounds, Teddy Diaz's solo on "Enveloped Ideas". I said...hey...I can do this...and everything else was history.

i was about to post my reply and itong song na to ang ilalagay ko. you're right, simple ang guitar solo sa song na enveloped ideas pero timeless ang dating. that song led me to learn all the songs of the first 2 albums of the dawn  (the dawn and i stand with you).

the late teddy diaz made such a huge impact in my guitar playing and here are the rest of his songs na im proud to say na up to this day na i can play note for note:

- i stand with you - pinaka favorite kong guitar solo in a song, ever! nagku-kwento yung lines ni teddy... hanep ang timpla ng delay. made me think na parang he gave his all in to this song before he passed away.

- wish you were here - progressive ang bagsakan ng the dawn sa song nato, lumabas ang RUSH influence nila.

- susi - listen to the guitar solo and you'll hear teddy's lines and tone are almost violin-like and classical.

- mad game - A-G-F-E  lang ang chord progression sa buong  song but the solo's great din.

- dreams - dahil sa song na to  na realize ko dati na pwede ka palang gumawa ng adlib na lihis sa chord progression sa body ng song. great lines and this influenced me sa tipla at set-up ng distortion, chorus/flanger and delay.

so guys, how about a tribute to teddy diaz jam in the future?

ESTRANGED!!! ANG ANGAS NIYANG SOLO NA YAN!!! ASTEEEEG SIR AL!

Quote from: Al_Librero
Estranged - Guns n' Roses --- the biggest reason why I idolized Slash back in high school

All I Want Is You - Bryan Adams --- yeah, yeah I know. it's just strange that back in college, when I try to imagine a great emotional guitar solo, I listen to this song after a few days and boom... it's right there in that song.

All I Want Is You - U2 --- hehehe. same title. probably one of the longest solos The Edge has ever played in a studio album.

See You On The Other Side - Ozzy --- deeply personal reasons

Di na ako mamimilosopo at electric gtr na lang ili-list ko. Kaso meron mga tie:

1. Wally G - Wally's Blues and Santana - Blues for Salvador cuz they're so emotional. I thought dapat ganito ang perfect solo.
2. Jeff Beck - Cause We've Ended As Lovers... cuz it's just so lyrical and beautiful... yung tension ng minor and major is amazing.
3. Duane Allman - Statesboro Blues and Johnny Winter - Highway 61... first time ako na-expose sa electric blues-rock slide gtr... Ibang ibang style pala siya sa acoustic and Chicago blues style na inaaral ko at the time. mas exciting!

And of course all the classic solos by BB King, Albert King, Freddie King, Albert Collins, Otis Rush etc...

For the Love of God - Steve Vai...grabe toh astig kaso patawa yung bahista sa G3 live napapaindak sa groove nung song...
Manhattan - Eric Johnson sarap sa tenga ganda ng groove nakaka-relax
Having A Blue Dream - Joe Satriani...hmmm steady lang eh...basta dito ako na-inspired to study scaling...all i am thinking before i heard this song is ok na sa akin ang puro strumming nalang...

cliffs of dover - made me decide to finally buy an electric guitar

My early jazz influences..
Joe Pass' soloin "Django", "Insensiblement"
Django Reinhardt's solo on Nuages
Misty as played by Wes Montgomery

Now, anything by Kurt Rosenwinkel

Kurt Rosenwinkel!!! Grabe, art in motion... his note choices, rhythm... make me want to play harmonica, its much safer :) Rosenwinkel is THE new jazz monster...
