may pagkakaiba ata ang maturity at disiplina di ba, shifting to one genre to another is a musicians choice whatever the he/she has.. kung ganun di ba personal un, tapos papasok lang ang maturity siguro kung na reach mo na yun gusto mo marating as a musician but it still says one thing " Pansarili mo itong satisfaction " na ibig sabihin eh nag mature ka personally. Disiplina naman iba din yun, di ba nga dedikasyon mo un sa pagiging musikero mo, rules you live by as a musician. And lastly      " there is no maturity but its the fulfillment we get from what we are doing " hehe mabuhay ang mga musikerong pinoy

It's a personal attainment.

its a little OT, but after years in hard rock genre, im switching more to blues now than jazz. Signs and symptoms: i've disposed of most of my heavy metal arsenal, but i retained the basics: overdrive, EQ, wah and delay. But i will always be a true blue hard rocker, its in the blood 8-).

maturity is when you are at a stage when you can never be dictated by someone else of your choices in music

may jazzy thing na ginagawa nila dun sa intro ng "grace" hahaha. well at least for me. of course hindi improvised yung intro pero may jazz sensibility lang ako naririnig sa aking mga tenga.

BTT:

okay rin yung alex skolnick trio. any of you guys have heard their material? sobrang opposite end ng ginagawa niya sa testament.  kaya magaling si alex.  siguro nag mature nga siya or ewan ko... but then again, feeling ko choice niya lang talaga yun.  :-D

NO!!!

what do you guys think? may ganito rin ba kayong experiences?

IMHO I agree, that is a NO!!! Musical maturity is not achieved by playing a certian genre of music.Musical maturity to me is how you play any genre properly and accurately with all the aspects of music...dynamics,tone,rhythm,harmony,melody,arrangement,creativity,dicipline,artistry etc.Infact I prefer a musician who can play any genre, guys like the local masters Ceasar Aguas,Noel Mendez,Janno Queyquep,Jack Rufo and many more.Whatever kind of genre that maybe they play it really well.It just proves that music as an art has no limits,so it should not be limited to playing only Jazz.
