I had a behringer strat. Yung 1st gen, yung tama pa yung body shape. In the hands of strat users, it sounded nice. I get remarks like, "ganda ng strat mo bro", tsaka "ok din naman pala yung behringer" , whenever they get their hands on it. My drummer even likes it.. People just seem to like it, especially the more experienced players. They'd play jazz comps, lead lines, double-stops on it, and I wonder if it's even my guitar. But I just couldn't bond with it. Didn't like the thin neck, I hit the selector switch and volume knob when strumming, middle pickup gets in the way, single-coil hum, I feel too awkward with the light weight, etc, etc... you know, basic strat design issues.
Maybe I'll give strats another chance in my lifetime, but you can hate me for the meantime bro.
I'm more likely to pick up an offset or a tele. The les paul on the other hand, most any les paul, I can make it work. Maybe because I grew up on an acoustic, and a proper les paul feels closer to it than a strat. It just feels right. But it's a lot cooler to hate on a les paul, so hate away!!
