Hahaha! Not anytime soon bro. That's too much for me. Ideal na ang 2x12 saka 1x12 builds para sakin. Saka 4x12 means 4x din ang gastos sa speakers. Haha. Masakit masyado sa bulsa.  :-D

Very nice bro.  Was hoping you'd go for the matching black tolex + silver sparkle grillcloth, but the scheme you're gunning for sounds interesting as well. ^-^

Hey.. Thank you bro. Your builds have always been an inspiration in my DIY enthusiasm.  :-)

I would have gone that route if only the silver sparkle grill cloth can be easily sourced locally...unfortunately, no (or I just don't know. lol.).. So I'll just have to make it more "unique" looking..  :-)

Cool to know all that hassle with photobucket inspires someone! Ahahaha sometimes you make mistakes holding the camera in one hand (be warned).  Anyway, you could order silver sparkle from AES or have our local guys do it for you, but you'd be hard pressed matching that fresh grillcloth and trying to age it. So I guess trying for a fresh look is a very viable option.

Might I suggest you take some time with your scrap wood pieces this time. Try different finish grits before applying contact cement. Try different drying times right after applying and before laying tolex down. Also, spraymist the grillcloth with water before stretching over the frame. You gotta get the right conditions, but you gotta test to know how to get there.

Hahaha. Kaya I still choose to stick within parts na madaling makuha dito sa lugar ko that will still get the job done..

Hahaha! I've been doing trial and error sa pag cover. I think I'm getting it really right this time. Hehehe. Saka ang isa pa, dapat talaga may wood filler of some sort.. kasi hassle pag sinisipsip ng kahoy yung pandikit, nababawasan yung pagiging effective.. saka ang key ay wag masyadong manipis yung rugby.. pero wag din masyadong makapal kasi nagkakaroon ng bukol or small lumps.. medyo trial and error nga siya pero nakukuha naman.  :-)

Regarding the grill cloth, I'll definitely take that into consideration. :-)

I'm subscribing to this.  I just tried a Laney iron heart head 120watts today with a Laney 4x12, pero sobra na yung 4x12, so maybe a 2x12 would be better.

sir - mga how much will this potentially cost?  The 4x12 Laney cost around 19k (and the mesa costs 83k, grabe naman).

Okay. Last year I did a sembreak project which was a 1x12 cabinet. Thought it'd be a nice project to do with my spare time or whenever I'm bored with the stuff I regularly do.

Finished Cab#1 and now it's in the hands of a superb guitar god.

Now, summer is fast approaching.. I have three guitars.. one has no pickups.. one is out for a re-fret.. and the other one will be sold soon..
Need something to keep me busy for the meantime.... I'd like to take building cabs to the next level.. 2x12 naman.. Hehe.. I'm planning to use it for my Fender DSR head.

Dimensions were based on a Fender Bandmaster 2x12 cabinet. However, I opted for a partially open back ala Avatar's Premier 212 open back cabs rather than a closed back cab like the original Bandmaster. I also ditched the thought of putting a divider on the middle of the cab as I fear it might sound boxy.

3/4" marine plywood was used for the sides and baffle
1/2" marine plywood was used for the back panel and front grill

**I think the vintage Fender cabs used plywood back then before later using particle boards**

After a few weeks of on and off wood working, here's the current progress of the cab.

Boss, I don't want to offend you but I don't know of any of the great cabinet manufacturer use marine ply for cabinets.    They use select birch ply which is different and of better quality both in terms of strength and tone than marine ply.  In fact, the secret to the good sounding old Marshall 4x12 Cabinets in the 60s was the ample supply of good sounding birch ply from the Baltics.  I had plugged thru one and it sounded awesome.  The good cabinet manufacturers today test their birch ply for sound before using it on a cabinet.   Please take note that marine ply in the Philippines reflects the one of the LOWEST standard of plywood.  Sorry to say this things but I just felt that you needed to know.

Bro I think he already knows... it's his second cabinet I think just for the record. It's a good practice IMHO.

We'll just have to wait and see because I know one day, one of the best cabs will be made by Chino. Everybody started from the lowest then made it up there.

Hey thanks for the information sir Alex. None taken.  :-)

I'm just starting out to do some DIY stuff of this kind so I don't think it's too practical for me, as of the moment, to invest in those "void free" birch plywood. It's also really hard to source out those nice stuff in my area, without breaking the bank. So there, setting those aside, I'm using at the moment those that are most accessible to me.

It's a really fulfilling feeling of starting a build from scratch and finishing it nicely. I'll take it one step at a time. Maybe next time when I know where to get those stuff and I have the proper tools as well as the capital, I'd definitely want to make one.  :-)

Thanks for the inputs.  :-)

Haha. Thanks bro. It's really ok sakin. Criticisms are fine, that's what a forum is for. Posted this too so I can get insights and reactions from you guys so ok lang sakin yun.

Yes, hinay-hinay lang. Di naman ito parang seryosong trabaho or what. It's just a fun project, katuwaan ko lang. Haha. Kung may trip magpagawa (given the materials I use) at tingin ko kaya ko, then why not.  :-)

SIOCHI's cabs look really good and well made.  :)

I'm not sure bro.

Regarding your question, depende sa application bro.

Updates:

After letting the glazing potty dry and harden overnight, I finished sanding it off with a 120 grit sandpaper. Might add another layer of putty just to make sure I get everything as even as possible and to fill the pores.

Hehe.

Btw, if you're mixing Eminence British and American speakers, make sure their efficiencies are pretty close to each other, not more than 3db apart. Otherwise, one would drown out the other. Red coats are usually in the hundreds while Patriots are in the mid to hi nineties.

But you probably already know that!  :-D

Inputs are very much appreciated. I'll look into that partsexpress. Hindi kasi ako ma-amazon na tao. Pero check ko rin. Thank you bro. :)

Isa pa nga palang tip, instead of contact cement, try the water based vinyl floor tile adhesive. It is just as sticky but much much more forgiving with a longer open tack time.

I have always used rugby. Pero sige, for this particular build, I'll try that one out. Pero kung pwede tanggal-tanggalin, does that mean na madali din siya matanggal over time?

Stupid question: Can wood glue be mixed with water tapos yun ang ibbrush ko as my adhesive? Parang PVA glue od some sort ba ang dating nun?
