will PM you bro

Update 7/26/2014

the serial number follows the X YYYY format.  X = 4.

You are correct, it is a 1984 model, though I expected a different TRC. Perhaps the previous owner changed it or they used a Super Real neck or TRC (this is a normal practice with MIJ guitars). Try checking if it has a long tenon.

I think the TRC's of the MC series were the long narrow ones and not the usual bell cover! But it could have easily been just replaced

i think so too. one of the previous owners put in vintage gibson hardware too ( stopbar, ABR, posts ). from what vintage decade, i dunno. definitely not 50s. 60s unlikely. baka 70s. or 80s.

Ah, the previous owner probably replaced the TRC. It is said that the quality of the Super Real series is similar to the Mint Collection, with the TRC as the obvious difference. Congrats!

^As in there's a strat that was called "Super Real"? Nice, Fender Japan.

EDIT: All this time I thought Greco is more about LP/SG.

I have a greco strat march 1982

Officially in 1982

http://www.stratconnection.com/grecolawsuit.htm

"Eventually, as the company found that the demand for their popular replicas grew and that the size of the production was
getting too large, they relinquished their Stratocaster division to Fender Japan in late 1981.

By 1982, Greco Stratocasters became Fender JV Stratocasters, then later MIJ and CIJ Stratocasters, made by the same
guys who made the Greco "Sparkle Sound," "Spacey Sound," "Sparkle Sound," and "Super Real" Stratocasters from
1977-1981."

So far ang pinaka latest na nakita ko serial ng greco strats ay yung katulad nung sa akin which is march 1982. So i think fender japan starts at around april 1982
My strat most likely belongs to the last productions of greco strat before they change it to fender japan.

Help naman po mga sir. Seeming as napaka daming Greco experts here, can anyone help identify kung anong model or year ito? Les Paul Custom. Set neck with serial no. 1777456. It was my first time buying a Greco Les Paul I'm not really sure kung ano ito. Thanks in advance.

The serial would probably be "I" then 77xxxx.. September 1977 perhaps.

Thanks for the quick reply. Kung 77, is this considered a lawsuit guitar?

Not really Greco's best years.. The more collectible ones are from the short Super Real (1979-1982) and Mint Collection (1982-mid 80s) eras..

i think serial starts with a 1 not I, which would mean either 81 or 91.

i'll get back to you on the model

I finally got a reply from the original owner. He says it's an EG-600R. Is that accurate? I found some brochures and since alam ko na yung year (thanks Chino) nakita ko sya. It looks like it. So hindi naman sya sobrang low-end kung ganoon am I right? I can read a bit of Japanese and sabi sa 77 brochure it has U1000 pickups and maple laminate body.

Yep. From the catalog, it seems like an EG-600R. Maple laminate is just a fancy word for saying that it has a pancake body. Typical for 70s japan LPs.

Yep I understand that laminate part. I'm not expecting anything fancy especially with the price I paid for it.
