CONNECTING 2 NETWORK SWITCHES...
« on: June 26, 2007, 01:02:19 PM »
Is it possible? Ok, here's my network description.

Cable Modem connected to a PC running ICS...
...PC running ICS connected to a 16-Port Switch...
...16-Port Switch shares internet connection and files to multiple computers...

My questions:

Can I run an ethernet cable from an available port of my 16-Port Switch and connect it to ANOTHER switch which, in turn, will share files and internet connection to another group of computers?

If yes, what kind of cable should I use? Straight-through or crossover? By the way, my existing 16-Port switch doesn't have an uplink port. Can I just connect the cable to any available port?

My existing 16-Port Switch is CNET brand, can I use another brand for the second switch?

Has anyone ever tried this? Will it work? Quick response appreciated. Also, if you can give me internet links related to this.
