I'm currently saving up for a new practice amp and considering choosing between these 2:

V-TONE GM108
True Analog Modeling 15-Watt Guitar Amp with 8" Speaker

http://www.behringer.com/GM108/index.cfm?lang=ENG

or

VINTAGER AC108
15-Watt Vintage Guitar Amp with Vacuum Tube

http://www.behringer.com/AC108/index.cfm?lang=ENG

Both amps cost the same but have different selling points. The first is quite versatile but can be considered a "jack of all trades but master of none" while the second one is capable of just one sound but does it fairly well (WARM tube sound -- sarap!).

What would you choose if you were in my shoes?  :-D

although ung AC108 pa lang nasusubukan ko. got to admit that it does sound good. parang mas ok pa nga compared sa 15w fender amps (solid state).

looked it up on the net.....mukhang okey din. meron ba nito sa pinas? kung meron, magkano siya?

on the other hand, iba rin talaga ang tunog ng real tubes... :-D

Hands down, AC108. I swear if I had the cash when I tried that amp at Electronics Depot a year ago, binili ko na yan. It's the only practice amp (among the few) I've tried that made me say "wow". I used a Behringer strat to test it. Now that says something, right? :-)

I found the AC108 warmer-sounding than the GM108. And besides, I don't think I'd need all the modeling stuff on the other amp. But that's just me; I don't know if you need that. I found the AC108's distortion versatile enough for me. At lower settings, I got nice overdrive.. then I when I set the gain higher, I got this Tonny Iommi-like tone. :-D

Nga pala dude, you might wanna wait a bit if you're not in a real hurry. There's this new series from Behringer. Tube-sounding din pero solid state talaga. Yung Virtube series. Ewan ko lang kung mas mahal kaysa sa current choices mo. I'm intrigued with it.

ung blazer 158 is around slightly lower than 6k....sa audiophile po.  kung ayaw mo naman ng reverb u can try the rage 158....basically the same only w/o reverb around 3.5k ata last tym na nagtanong ako sa audiophile

thanks for the replies!

Looks like I might go for the AC108. I really don't need the modelling stuff come to think of it..... na-intriga lang talaga ako sa premise na versatile siya.

I'm into playing classic rock and "trying-hard" blues so I guess a tube amp is the best choice for me!  :-D

if i were you, i'd avoid Behringer at all cost... i'd rather get CHarvel made in japan surplus 10 watt amps than those things...

as far as practice amps are concerned, the less features, the better.

how much is your budget? ... if its 3-5K, i suggest you go surplus.

go get the ac108, meron ako nung 2ng un, nakukulangan ako sa tone ng GM, and mahirap cya timplahin para sa mga katulad ko na walang tiyaga. ung ac108, aus ang tone malakas din cya. un ang practice amp ko ngaun. satisfied ako sa performance nya.

Good luck sa amp hunting mo. im sure ac108 ang kkunin mo. dagdag encouragement lng ako... hahahahahaha!

Try these:

MARSHALL LEAD 12 (Billy Gibbons and Joe Perry's favorite cutesie amps; go 2nd hand as they are out of production)

EPIHONE Valve Jr. tube amp

FENDER Champion 600 tube amp

You can pre-order  at PJC Music before 3rd week of May to get these bang-for-buck tube amps.

Sa tingin ko 15W of all tube...medyo di na pang-kwarto yun eh haha!
I've yet to get my hands on an amp I ordered, 15W of all tube din,a Fender Blues Jr.

Kung pang kwarto lang I think a 15W SS amp is a better choice but heck if you want POWER then go for tube! :-)

Nice! Except mga last quarter of this year na ako makakabili. Pamilyado e, so priority muna ang para sa pamilya.  :-D

How often does PJC order from abroad?

Pansin ko rin these days, parami ng parami ang mga gitarista na amp ang binibitbit to their gigs instead of pedals. Pwede na rin siguro 'to for small venues 'no?  Wala nga lang footswitch........:-D

oi chimi!magtrabaho ka nga! haha!
anyway
@radiostationexp tama ka diyan, minsan amp, board and guitar pa ang dalang gamit, which I think is better lalo na kung di ka aware sa gamit dun sa place na tutugtugan mo.
anyway, I plan on using my Blues Jr din sa bar gigs if necessary(yung tipong pangit yung gamit) pero for larger events such as the UP fair or whatever I would prefer to use my amp kahit 15W lang since kaya naman niya yung stage level pag ganun, mic na lang hehe. :-)
Mas maganda na yung sigurado ka sa tunog mo pagdating sa big events di ba. :-)
