gretsch blackhawk or mapex qr?

sirs i'm in a quandary right now on which set to buy, i went to raon just this day and narrowed my choices into these sets. any suggestions? both of them are in the 29T price range by the way. i'm planning on buying na kasi next week. inputs? thanks!

sir did you tried to visit JB music? they are having their Christmas sale. till' dec. 30 daw yun ehh.. mas mura sila magbenta ngayun kesa sa raon stores. regarding po dun sa mga choices nyo po, i think mas panalo yung mapex q series. (pero i own a gretsch blackhawk kit! haha) correct me if i'm wrong pero 9 ply ata yung mapex q and naka remo heads na yun

. yung gretsch blackhawk 6 ply lang pero panalong panalo naman yung hardware.. pero if you will choose the blackhawk, wag nyo po kukunin yung mga bagong sets nila ngayun. get the old ones. taiwan kasi yung old ones ehh. i think mas maganda po yun kasi tinipid sa hardware yung mga bagong blackhawk ngayun ehh.nagpalit sila ng supplier nila from taiwan lumipat sila ng china. gibraltar 5600 series pa po yung hardware nung mga taiwan made blackhawks.

correct ka jan bro! inexplain din sa kin un e. taiwan yung kukukunin ko kung sakali. panalo lang talaga yung blackhawk gawa ng hardware. pero soundwise kaya? tska hindi q bro, qr yun.

ahaha sorry pare. qr pala yun, di po ako masyadong pamilyar sa mapex.
hmm, panalo ang gretsch sa hardware and decent naman yung tunog ng gretsch. pero panalo din yung mapex qr kasi naka remo heads na yun. kung ako po ang tatanungin, mas pasok sa tenga ko yung tunog ng gretsch. pero di po kasi ako sure kung ilang ply yung qr series ng mapex ehh. tingin ko mas panalo yung mapex pag mas makapal yung ply nun.

well that's just me. try niyo pa po humingi ng mga advice sa mga pros.

Like Sir Jecster (owner of JB Music) said, both are good drums and it is your call, I might be biased because I own a gretsch catalina ash, but sir you can not go wrong with the blackhawks, even the chinese made version has good points, the all new metal snare is kick ass!

wow! sir jecster 19k na yun 5600 hardware pack? panalong panalo pala. nung nabili ko kasi yung taiwan made blackhawk ko, 25k lang eh. w/ gibraltar hardware na yun.

if you could try and test it to hear its sound, do so...

look at the lugs, hoops.. are the lugs coated plastic or are they metal? tom mounting system -- are they isolated or do they go through the shell.. hoops...

finishes -- do they have the finishes/looks that you like

aftersales support... parts availability...

these are some of the things normally forgotten to consider in buying stuff... which could play an important role in the life of the product...

personally, i would probably go with the mapex qr since it has lots of choices for the finish (i like the angel wing), it has isolated tom mounts and i know i have someone to go to during problems and i would say it definitely has good aftersales...

but then again, this is something personal.. these are just some of the things i consider...
