« on: October 01, 2008, 07:04:28 PM »

comments and advices would be very much appreciated. thanks in advance!  :-)

hello bro :)

to give you an idea,

zbt is already bronze ( B8 ) while PST3 is only brass.
bronze sheet cymbals are usually better than brass cymbal in both
sound quality and durability. but since this is a ride, a brass ride can also sound good. (ping wise, bow wise) but in my opinion go for the bronze ZBT. :) not only does it sound good, but it has a higher resale value than brass cymbals. :)  that's all bro :) hope I helped :)

to answer your question on which is better, zbt is better than pst3 IMO. (zbt vs. pst5 is a different story though...)

but i agree with plep. ipon na lang ng konti, may mabibili ka ng cast na zildjian (or paiste, pero bihira) sa classifieds.  :-D  however, if you can't stretch budget of 4k, i suggest that you look at other options like a stagg (wait for an 2nd hand SH ride, cast na yun), B8 or even an edge ride. they all sound better than zbt and pst3. opinion ko lang po.  :-)

 - Planet Z, Scimitar, Solar, PST-3, HCS

3. todo overrated
 - ZXT Titanium, Pitch Black

4. pwede na
- B8, ZBT, ZXT, MCS

5. uy okay 'to ah!
- B8 Pro, XS20, ZHT, Edge, PST-5

6. pro quality, budget price
- SH, APX, Alpha, Classics

ah ganon ba. thanks bro.

ZXT Titanium kamo? Hahah. I've tried the ride (nothing special), the crash (lacks cutting power) and the splash (HEAVEN!) from that lineup. Obviously, only the 10" Flash Splash piqued my interest.:D

As for plep's list, agree ako except for two models:

Pre-cursor model 'to ng ZBT's decades ago, which means it's sheet bronze. I own Sci hats and a ride. They do better than any current-model ZBT's today!

As for the cast bronze XS20, pro-qual budget price dapat HAHAH. I LOVE my 18" XS20 crash. I prefer it over the APX which for me, is loud and cutting kaso kulang sa "tone". And they certainly do better than Sabian's B8 Pros, and Zildj's ZHT's and Edges.

bro musta ung tunog ng xs20 crash? loud and cutting din ba? narinig ko na nga personally ung APX, tama ka nga at kulang cya sa tone..hindi masyado musical for me...

Tawag ko sa 18" Med-Thin XS20 ko - Roast Beef. WARM and MEATY. Hindi sya super bright like the B8's. It's not as cutting as, say, a Projection Crash or an AA Metal-X, pero it CAN get loud. I love the overtones din. Mas pronounced ang mids instead of harsh highs pag pinapalo. Pretty good for my ears lalo na't considering na walang hammering ang XS20 hahah.

All in all, excellent for a general-purpose crash. It blends well mapa-alternative or metal ang tugtugan. Good for aggresive time-keeping as an alternative to open hats. Kaso it won't be the pie to hit para sa points in the song that need bright and cutting (like breakdowns and such). :-D

i kinda agree with sjon with this one... i think xs20 should be under the "pro quality, budget price" category. i also have an xs20 18" medium thin crash. very nice tone - not too bright, sakto lang. very versatile. could fit into any set-up and genre.  :-)

ah okay. thanks sir. kasi di ba gumagapang yung cracks na yan kahit maliit lang?

regarding the crash sir, ride raw po talaga hanap niya e. thanks for the offer though. :-)

Or high class pero in Low price.

ahaha! ayus to ah! tama! and pst3 is brass lang kasi. compared sa zbt's na b8 nga katulad ng namention ni sir ralph. kaso, dami na nagsasabi na pangit na ang zbt's ngayon kesa dati. well, personal preference naman. you'll just have to play it with your kit tlaga para malaman mo. iba kasi kahit mapalo mo sa music store, either malapit o malayo. haha.
