Title: Using FULL FRAME?
Post by: gainsucker on July 26, 2012, 02:02:40 PM
how's the experience compared to using a cropped sensor camera? share your thoughts and photos.

experienced and tried shooting with full frame bodies. i really like the high iso capability that comes with a full frame sensor.  >:D

noticeable yung higher dynamic range over cropped sensor. kaya lang nung nagkaron ako ng fuji x100, nawala na yung lust ko to go full frame  :-D

i have s hoot kase next month and it's a paid vacation in a very exclusive island, kahiya naman kung d7000 gamitin ko. it's a prenup by the way, 3 days na shoot with different concepts. I am thinking of buying a D700 by the end of this month and rent some lenses, the 24 70mm. You think that is enough? they like candid shots. Do i really need to rent the 70 200mm as well? your inputs will be appreciated  :-D

ok lang naman ung d7k sir, nothing to worry kasi ung mga shots mo naman yung titingnan nila. kung rent yung d700 ok lang, pero kung bibili ka wag muna, konting tiis lang palabas na din yung d600, by early next year siguro :) as for the lenses, rent it both for safety purposes. btw, san ka nga pla nagrerent ng lens?

i saw the D600 photos and it looks like it has the D7000 body. not sure kung kailan ang release date nito, as i don't have a camera now and i need it before September 15  :-(

i'm here in Singapore, and mahal din mag rent ng lenses.

P1500 per day ang 24 70mm

ang d600 ata e fullframe na price press released  around $1500-1800, mura sa isang full frame body..bagong technology pa (baka meron na tong nakainstall na wifi gaya ng d4 or my wifi port gaya ng d3200  >:D)

pero if you need a cam before sept 15 obviously d700 is still a beast kahit na luma na :) rent ka na nga lang sir ng lens, mapapamahal ka kung kukuha ka ng d700 + 24-70 combo.

outdoor shoot? i think you dont need the extra dynamic range. extra lighting sources will be more beneficial in my opinion

i thinks there's nothing wrong bringing a cropped sensor cam (d7k) as long as you can deliver quality pictures and exceed your client's expectation..normally all they want is the captured moments.plus factor na lang if you produced beautiful shots and im sure you can.so camera type/model is not a factor.

back to your question, im a shifter from cropped to full frame....and dthere is really the wow factor...high iso performer and for what ive noticed and learned i think the fstop/DOF also multiplies in cropped sensor, so in full frame you can enjoy and notice DOF in wide aperture lens specially prime lens...

thanks guys. i don't have a camera now kaya iniisip kong kumuha na ng full frame. galing na ko sa d7000, kaya better to upgrade. bad trip lang at matagal pa bago i release ang d600. sa Sept 22 pa naman ang shoot so let's see. I plan to get the camera end of August. Matagal na rin ako di active as I got busy jamming.

it'll be my first time using full frame so i'm sure maninibago ako  baka hanapin ko yung reach factor ng cropped sensors.

better iso performance, dynamic range, bigger viewfinder, correct 35mm format on your lenses (correct field of view), better photography experience. haha. let us know what you end up buying!

FULL FRAME cameras have digital sensors equivalent to 35mm film format. APS-C (Advanced Photo System type-C) which is your 550D has a 1.6x crop factor towards a full frame sensor. So your lenses such as the EF-S series focal value changes by 1.6 for example your 18-55mm kit lens is actually 28-88mm on your CROP body.

crop cameras give you an extra zoom... para sakin mas may advantage ang full frame kung landscape photographer ka kase kuha mo yung actual na nakikita ng lens mo.... saka kung gusto mo itake advantage ang full 18 mp ng crop cam....L-lens is a must!.... ive seen the light hehe

Given the chance yes but not A MUST. One is not limited to an L lens to capture great photos.

well just as in music...iba iba din ang taste ng photographer sa look at sa pag post process...overexposed underexposed...instagram look...even sa blur may style!
for me kase i like photos razor sharp everytime, syempre naman gumagamit pa ng dslr pero quality mukang point and shoot parin.... when i didnt have it...dinadaan ko sa smart sharpen sa photoshop lahat ng picture ko...so its minus one chore which saves alot of time in post process, and i process like 6-10 photos sabay sabay at a time....sa colors naman i still correct, may sarili kase ako preference....

you dont need a higher or the full megapixel count of your cam if you don’t even print at sizes bigger than an 8×10 or even a magazine size at approximate dimensions of an A4 paper. moreso..

This. shooting on correct exposure with appropriate composition to a scene is way better and cheaper than requiring an L lens or a gold ring from nikkor.

We all have preferences, that's not the issue. Claiming that an L lens is a must in order to take advantage of a body's 18 MP is absurd. Again it is not a necessity, it is a Luxury; one is not limited to an L lens to capture great photos.

I would agree with this more:

Here's my own preference for prx it is really
depends what kind of shooting prefrence mo hindi naman sa its a must mag full frame you can still Shoot in any camera
nsa tamang composition and framing kasama na din processing Skills jan but using full frame sensor have a big advantage and Disadvantages

if you want to take full advantage of a pixel count. shoot in raw...all the details are preserved, all the pixel count are preserved...lens has nothing to do sa pixel count...it's all in the sensor...lens gives your clearness/sharpness of an scene and recorded in the sensor which turns it into individual pixel. so L lens it's not a necessity.a cheap nifty fifty can create outstanding image in the hands of a great photographer.but its good to have L lens of course. :-D

Nice work pre.

Im just gonna point out one thing if you dont mind.
I believe the highlights are clipped way too high.

I was looking at it at home thinking it must be just my monitor so i looked again at work and its the same washed highlights. Besides that the pics are really good, the bride poses are working for me.
