One saturday, I removed the pickups on my strat plus deluxe and just got the replacement dimarzio's for it. I was far from a soldering iron so I decided to look around sa FB for someone na pwede mag install, Iam near monumento area and needed my guitar that same day for our church rehearsals...
I saw this MG1 guitar clinic near MCU and I said "Yes" malapit lang, contacted the guy via PM and went to his shop... I had the 1st doubt when he saw the roller nut on my guitar, ang sabi ano'ng technology daw yun... hmmm medyo nag duda ako konti... pero dahil I need the guitar, it outweighed my doubts.. so he soldered, while tending to his sari-sari store..sometimes, sir paki hawak sandali, may bili lang ng yosi, or mag papaload :-) ... cut the story.. nahinang nya yung pickups..nahirapan ibalik yung pickguard dahil sa wire... then testing.. yung neck and bridge napaka nipis ng tunog, while yung middle sobrang lakas.. yun na..sabi ko ok na to kesa pag experimentuhan pa gitara ko..alis ako for rehearsal can't bear the tunog...went to mang max the next day...ayun. mali-mali ang wiring...haay!

monumento ka sana nag guitar salon ka sa me roosevelt two rides from monumento or max rufo sa malabon.

HAHAHAHAHA yang luthier term kasi gets tossed around hahaha sa luthier talk, I solely recommend going to reputable ones. and ask your very close friends and industry names on who's their best guy.
so far, Mike Sison really takes the cake. both in reputation and outputs.

^labo nyan kung wiring at simpleng setup lang wag na gagamitin yung luthier na term to describe their job. unless they have built a guitar from the ground up at lagpas singkwenta na ang guaranteed service nila sa mga maintenance ng gitara.

^labo nyan kung wiring at simpleng setup lang wag na gagamitin yung luthier na term to describe their job. unless they have built a guitar from the ground up at lagpas singkwenta na ang guaranteed service nila sa mga maintenance ng gitara.

Given your situation it was best to go to someone who already knows how to do it but I guess it's not bad to invest on yourself as well. I suggest to try DIY next time.
I don't know any guitar tech/luthier here in UAE so I am forced to teach myself how to do the setup and mods since I have 4 guitars

Agreed. Soldering is useful for so many things outside repairing guitar electronics. It's a handy skill.

OMG seriously? He could have easily googled the wiring scheme of ANY pickup manufacturer.

yes sir... pickups i asked to be installed was cruiser neck, hs3 mid, norton s bridge .... the first try, ang sabi nya, kaka install ko lang ng double rail sa isang tele... may wiring ako na magpapalakas ng tunog.. i was like ok, sige... pag hinang, walang tunog kahit isa pickup (sabi pa baka sira pickup lol ) ...then isip, isip sya... siguro mali ang wiring that's what he said... then konti baligtad ng wiring, viola! tumunog... pag insatll ng pickguard and saksak sa amp... yung neck and bridge sobrang hina and ang nipis ng tunog, yung middle malakas..sabi nya pa , kakaiba mga pickup nyo sir... paid the guy and left na kasi may rehearsal pa... hindi talaga ako mapakali sa tunog, kahit mga kabanda ko ang sabi ano nangyari sa tunog ng gitara mo?...next day, went to max rufo...pag saksak pa lang nya sa amp to test ang sabi nya agad, mali ang wiring, kalas.. tingin... tinuro yung mali pagkasama ng iba color ng wire... re-soldered and ayun! ganda ng tunog!

makapag aral nga mag solder at proper wiring ng gitara tapos yan lang service na ioffer ko.

Pickup got "out-of-phase" due to wrong wiring. Tried that before when I started out learning how to install a pickup. Learned from it.
As for the "luthier daw", it doesn't make him a lesser person kung nag google for the wiring diagram. :-D

So much fail.....
Very unprofessional na pinuputol yung trabaho sa harap ng client para tauhan yung ibang business niya.
Obviously there is lack of knowledge in the part of the "luthier" daw. We dont know if there is also a lack of skill dahil nahinang naman...mali nga lang
If luthier talaga yan dapat may tester yan. Tester pa lang alam mo na kagad pano iwire yung pickups kahit anong brand pa yan. Malalaman mo na din kagad kung sira yan or hinde ... kaya maling mali na sabihin niya na baka sira ang pixkups mo....... btw napansin mo ba na may tester siya sa shop/sarisari store niya
Pag nagpapahinang ako ng pickup i study the wirings myself. I make sure na tama ang diagram sa gusto kong wiring.
Don't let a stranger work on your precious guitar... unless nirecommend siya ng kakilala mo.
