mahineman, nice song. kayo ba pumili ng cover or yung label? i love paramita's take on this cut, sobrang ganda ng lyrics, grabe yung recall, and ria sounds sexy! ;)

Getting one tribute is one thing... Getting a follow-up tribute with almost the same artists (with added newly rising bands) is another... Sometimes I think that this APO reminiscing is too much... I liked Silent Sanctuary's rendition... (maybe that's the only song I wanted in that album)... but the rest... (no comment)

i don't like the revived version of "kaibigan" by updharmadown, binaboy nila yung kanta eh!
i actually loved it. subjective talaga ang mga bagay bagay :) my partner thinks updharma did a disservice to the song kasi halos wala na daw naretain from the original except the lyrics. the way i see it naman, it was a bold and brave move for the band to uphold their identity despite the rehashing of old material from industry giants like APO. ibagn iba na talaga yung updharma version, and that could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on the listener.

Just bought the new APO Tribute...
yeah I like it but masmaganda pa rin ang songs sa unang tribute. Updharma Down's Kaibigan version is nice. My favorite is Tuloy Ang Ikot ng Mundo.

i agree... subjective talaga.
i like what updharma down did to the song.
my motto on covers is mainly "destroy the song... make it your own, but make sure it still kicks as much a** as the original. if the song sucked in the first place... make it kick a**!"
i dont like those covers where its mainly "make bass line prominent and make drums faster or add distortion or worse, make a girl sing a guy song (now, a lot of bands are guilty of this, right?)" ... those things dont take any effort... its basically just a tiny step higher than what those guys do in battle of the bands.

Yea. It's nice to hear an artist "owning" a song's rendition.

About panterica's comment, yeah, dapat hindi talaga ginalaw yung lyrics. Ni-revive lang naman eh. Baket kailangang ituring na "iyo" (sa Sponge Lo.. Cola)? Parang nawalan ng sense yung pagka-tribute ng kanta.
Dun naman sa Kaibigan, oo nga okey na ibahin ang kana (like what Sandwich did to Bakit ang Babae) pero wag namang i-over ang revision. I have to agree na na-overkill yung song para lang masabing "Oyps hindi namin basta lang tinugtog to by the chords ha (like what the others did: Heto Na / Suntok Sa Buwan)? Iniba namin ang areglo etc..". Akala co nga iisang banda lang yung kumanta ng Heto Na and Suntok Sa Buwan. Parehong-pareho ang style eh.
I really like Prinsesa. Itchyworms really know how to preserve the song's beauty and yet put their own bite to it.

Paramita - Isang Dangkal... :-)
Paramita's own sound along with APO's lyrics is a great combination... :-)

Highlights for me are Isang Dangkal and Kaibigan.
I think I enjoyed Kaibigan in a sense that I never really heard the original version. So the song to me is so fresh on many levels.
Isang Dangkal is a glimpse of what Paramita may sound like on their next record.
