fingerzap:

Thanks, but I'm after the maple shells nyehehe! Would've preferred something like Tama's White Silk, Diamond Dust, or White Pearl.

Sa VBX, ayaw mo yung Concord Fade with exclusive Black Hardware? Looks good too. Metal talaga yung dating.

The Optimounts are compatible with VMX and VBX, right?

JB Music, we're begging you. Please, please, bring these kits in!  :-D

dapat talaga ginawa na nilang 2.3mm superhoops... kaso oh well, can't argue with 100% birch / 100% maple shells

Malamang sa 2009 na yun (standard 2.3mm hoops & optis), they'll probably call it Vision Custom or something. Siempre they're not gonna release everything in one go. Paunti unti. Sales strategy yan. Para we'll go crazy again next year. Like now, yung mga bumili ng VLX/VSX, they're going crazy over the 2008 Visions. I'm predicting the Visions will be here for awhile, lalo na't na-discontinue na ang mga Exports. I might even go as far as saying the Visions are the new Exports.  :-D

the Visions replaced both the Exports as well as the old Sessions. meron sila nung ISS tsaka 1.6mm hoops ng Export tapos yung all-maple tsaka all-birch shells nung mga later na Sessions. yung 900 series hardware, yung 6/8 ply shell config, tsaka yung birch/basswood naman eh unique sa Vision.

I agree, the Orange Zest looks too glossy, it can be mistaken for a covered finish. And parang hindi kita yung wood grain. The grain gives the drum a more expensive look. Sa Terracotta litaw yung grain, I just wonder baka masyadong malapit sa brown.

How I wish nagpalabas din sila ng Tobacco Burst or Fade. According to Sir Jecster the Masters and Reference kits will be arriving by March or April.

Is there any chance that JB's shipping Pearl hardwares too particularly the Eliminators? At tsaka lahat na ng hardware nila for that matter? Been yearning for a double pedal na matino. Hehe.

bigtime na ngayon ang forum series. it comes with ISS now. saka hindi mo iisiping low end sya ng pearl compare sa nakita kong pearl vision series.

^ 10 lugs.  The photo angle just captured 6 of its 10 lugs.

I haven't tried an Ultracast drum yet.  But I reckon that its sound characteristics may be similar to a Pearl Joey Jordison Signature snare drum.

hi pinoydrummers!

i am currently eyeing for my Pearl project drum set... i just fell in love with pearl even way back 1996... and lately i visited JB music. i wish to get one of the vision series set but compared to the price of the forum set, obviously, the vision looks more gorgeous than the forum.

is it really worth picking the vision over the other? will it really matter if its a 6 ply, 4 ply, whatever ply? 100%, 70% whatever % there is? i know it justifies the price difference of the percentages and plys ek ek but can we/you really specify when listening a song na "aaah, naka 6 ply yan" or "aaah 100% maple ang gamit nyan".

does the model really matter?

i saw on the earlier posts of this thread that the export was highly recommended over the forum but that was way back 2006. i saw an earlier post naman, mga last quarter of 2007 that the forum series is a decent series with ISS na (which i saw personally sa JB) compared to the old forum model (good for us consumers).

im a bit confused coz budget wouldnt really matter if i get the vision. im just wondering coz i could spare the additional cost of buying the forum versus the vision to purchase some good cast cymbals diba? or hardware etc.

i plan to get the good enough decent set and then practice like hell, tune it very well, take good care of it and learn/play like theres no tomorrow and be a good drummer...

pls enlighten me here, masters. =D

 :-)

It's better to ask JB Music if they have plans of bringing in Ultracast snare drums.

The Vision Series is a mid-level model, so it's definitely a far cry from the entry-level Forum Series.  For updates, info, and comparisons regarding Pearl's drumset lines, visit their website.

In order to shed more enlightenment, try to look for Modern Drummer's June 2008 issue.  There's a gleaming product review of the Pearl Vision drumkit.
