I wouldn't name whose MIJ's I've tried. But that includes an old Epiphone, a few Grecos, I think a Burny or two IIRC. Although I've never tried old MIJ tokais. Like what's in the thread title, everybody seems to like them, and I'm sure there are gems out there, but in comparison, a few guys I get to jam with playing RJ's always seem to have good guitars. So maybe it's the MIK LP's I dig better... or maybe not. But MIJ's? I'm unlucky enough [with the MIJ gear I get to try] to think there's a lot of Jap junk out there.

Just me though! I'll be surprised if anyone has the same sentiments, in any case... flame suit on!

I've never bonded with the Timmy. I've had both V1 and V2.
Pretty good cash cow when I eventually flipped them, though.

Neck-through guitars. Maybe I'm more of being apprehensive around them because I'm clumsy with my things. A hard face-plant and BAM! There goes the neck.

fender jaguars, jazzmaster and mustangs - i've always been a fan since my grade school days (90's), then i had a bandmate who owned these kind of guitars. tried them. and wasn't really impressed. the controls where a bit confusing, the squealed with feedback, made a lot of humming noises and didn't feel "balanced" in terms of weight distribution. i dont think they sound bad though.

Hi-watts seem to be one-trick ponies as well. I was on my way assembling a DR504 Preamp, which could be mated to my JCM800 (DIY) because it has a jack that goes straight to the power amp. The power amps of both amps are close, if not identical.

But I stopped somewhere when I nailed (IMHO) the HIwatt sound with a Boston OD100 pedal. Simple trick lang, squeeze the bass with a very small input capacitor. Well, among other things.

i've flipped a lot of pedals, but none of them were sought after or popular.

latest one i got was a Wampler Slostortion. i read all good reviews, but i just dont think there's anything special with it. its not bad, its just i was hoping i'd be impressed with it like the first time i had an emma reeza, a DNA Gainfxxr and an analogman MT2 ... either that or i was hoping for more treble and tight crunch out of the thing.

MXR 10 band EQ - i just think they complicate my tone.

Floyd Rose bridges - too complicated.

Almost all of Fernando guitars and basses - bad fretwork most of the time, flimsy hardware and electronics, soft woods, blocky feel.
