Ziphra
« on: October 27, 2012, 05:12:32 AM »
I just want to ask this. A question popped up in mind and if may kailangan akong irefine sa Technique ko I'd like to do so..

May tamang paraan ba ng Ziphra (if mispelled please correct me) o kanya kanya lang talaga..? I got a word from a friend (Conservatory of Music Major in Percussion Kaya mejo Reliable).. First daw kapain is Bass pattern and then Snare and then Hi- Hats.. and then saka na yung iba..

Just wondering if there really is a system for this.. May alam ba kayo or pano niyo ba ginagawa? Kung ano lang matripan..??

Usually kasi pag kumakapa ako eh di ko nakukuha naman 100%, talagang may halong sariling palo (Which I think is natural..)

Thoughts??  :-D :-D

Planning for a Band Rehearsal Studio business. Baka may alam kayong space for rent around QC area lang. Please PM me. Thank you.

Pag ako nagaaral ng kanta, una kong gagawin is papakinggan ko yung buong kanta. Hindi ko papaluan. Mga dalawa or tatlong beses kong gagawin to tapos i-chochopchop ko yung kanta into parts. Like intro... tas verse... tas chorus... dapat bago ako mag move-on ng part, dapat kuha ko na yung mga bagsakan (kung meron man) tsaka yung feel nung tugtog dapat ramdam ko na sa sistema ko. Sama mo na rin yung transition from part to part dapat rin magagawa ko ng malinis lalo na kung ibang klase pa yung bilang.

With regards to sticking with the original or adding your own stuff, mag lalagay kang sarili mong palo, Para saken, tugtugin mo muna ng malinis as is. tas pag super komportable ka na, tsaka ka magdagdag ng sarili mong stuff.

It's very important not too much away from a cover song kasi you ought to show respect to the one who wrote the drum parts unless you want to change the whole song altogether... Ibang bagay naman yun... Parang yung mga rock covers ngayon... Pero kung icocover niyo as is, dikitan mo lang yung parts na ginawa nung drummer. Happy drumming :)

This.

First daw kapain is Bass pattern and then Snare and then Hi- Hats.. and then saka na yung iba..

This.

And...

* I always count - Many songs, the bass drum beat falls on 1 & 3, snare falls on 2 & 4. Understanding note values is very important.

* I prefer high bit-rate music files and use Audacity to listen to the song. I can select sections, cycle play, and even slow down the speed, if needed (nagiging ngo-ngo nga lang, hehe).

* I prefer to be as faithful and as close as possible to the song I'd like to cover.

* I use Guitar Pro to transcribe the song, print then paste on a folder, label, and practice with it. It is difficult to memorize variances a drummer puts into the song even if overall, the beat is the same and a hard copy reference will always help. Difficult parts, I practice slow with counting and build up to the correct tempo as I get more comfortable.

* I like transcribing drum parts of songs. It can be a bit hard at times but it helps train my ears to hear the details and is a good exercise in notation and reading.

Thanks musiciannurse28, I'll read on Chris Coleman ABC method when I can.

Parang ang sosyal i-pronounce ng ziphra, hehe. Di ko din alam tamang spelling nito. "Sipra" ginagamit ko kapag sinasalita pero kapag ita-type ko na, "transcribe" na lang ang gagamitin ko  :-D
Tama Silverstar * Sabian XS20/AA/AAX * Evans heads * VF/Vater 5A
Ovation Viper * Ibanez ART100DX * Maestro EO-1 * VHT Special 12/20 * V30 cab * TW * FD2 * OCD * MS-70CDR * TT * AMT Wah
Ibanez SR505 * Ibanez Promethean P3115

There you have it. There isn't one right way to learn a song, as long as you learn it. It's like learning how to fry a scrambled egg.
And it's Rosanna, not Rossana.
