my friend might sell his yamaha alto yas 23 sax kasi hinde naman daw nagagamit, according to him eh 20 yrs na daw yun tapos pina overall repair nya daw just last week to someone na parang mang panny ang dating inabot daw sya ng 16k, narinig ko pinaayos nya daw lahat ng pwedeng ipaayos tska parang pina gold ata ulet or something,.pinaplate..just wanna hear your views sa sax nato at tska anu effect ng pag gold plate ulet ng buong sax sa sound.thanks..at range pla ng price nung yamaha 23 yas. wala pa pala kaming price kasi napagusapan pero mukhang makukuha ko ng mura lang daw ,ewan ko kung anu yung mura or baka mapamura ko!hahahahah

anyway, yamaha is a good brand. i sold my yas-23 to my officemate. it is a gift for her son.
sulit daw yung sax na binenta ko sa kanila. her son is a member of the school brass band.

overhaul - cleaning, oiling, recork, repad, replacement of springs, alignment, electroplating = 8800
1 box of reed = 3500

yan pla mga nagastos daw ,hinde pla 16k

i sold my yas-23 PHP25,000 (2 gives pa) including sax case & an ottolink mouthpiece. presyong kaibigan kasi gusto ko
tulungan yung anak niya who plays sax pero doesn't own one. her son is using the school saxophone. i'm so happy to sell
the sax to a very enthusiastic kid.

baka ma OT tayo ng admin re: selmer mark VI.

anyway, mahirap na ata maghanap ng selmer mark vi dito. if ever meron i believe mataas ang presyo. my advice is to contact
the sax repairmen here in the forum (mang panny, mang boyet etc...) baka may alam sila who is selling.

Off Topic: A friend of mine from Fresno, California just gave me a call informing me that a Selmer Mark VI Alto is being offered to him for $3,200 only. Excellent condition and the best part is - it was owned by John Klemer. If you are an avid sax and jazz fan, this should get you very excited. If you are interested, maybe we can ask my friend to buy it for you.

On topic: I own a Yamaha YAS 23 and it is a very good student model. I also got it from a forumer who also imported it from Fresno, CA but only paid P20,000 in good playing condition. I know someone locally who is selling a Vintage King Pro Alto (1929) for only P40,000. Good playing condition. PM me if interested

Hi Ding. Good thing you remembered.

So you moved to Canada? What province? I might be relocating to Saskatchewan myself but it will be a good year and half before that happens.

Well, the sax playing is progressing slowly. I attend two Sax Society meetings already and Tots Tolentino is a big help. Right now, I am just playing by ear but I will surely be taking up lessons when time permits, hopefully soon. So far I am able to play with the guys at Sax Society and jammed with fellow sax players and other musicians. I think I've fared fairly well considering I only had the sax for only four months and had no background in formal music whatsoever. I guess having a pair of good listening ears and the love for music particularly jazz really makes a big difference. The YAS 23 is holding fairly well also l but I am thinking of moving to a professional model once I can afford it. Actually, moving to tenor is my plan.

My friend from Fresno is Raul "Dong" Alvarez. Have you met him? His kid plays the flute and he went to this shop to have his kid's flute serviced and he was offered by the owner a Selmer Mark VI Alto. John Klemmer owns it according to my friend and he got all excited as we both love Klemmer. We grew up listening to him. The case even has John's signature according to my friend. Too bad, when he went there last week, it was already taken.

Back to topic. I had my YAS 23 serviced a few weeks ago and is now in pristine playing condition. If in case I decide to sell this, the new owner will be very, very happy.
